But they said that it was legally obtained, of course.
What's the fucking holdup in naming it? Why are they afraid of the public knowing what he used?
The doctors said people's bodies were "ripped apart."
So, name the weapon! What possible motivation do they have for keeping this under wraps?

(53,998 posts)From the sound of the video I watched, it simply high capacity and semi-automatic. Maybe a gun expert could share some informed speculation.
Whatever type of gun it is, and sure seems like the kind you wouldn't want someone under police scrutiny to be capable of buying.

But, really, who cares? the man is a murderer and thankfully he was captured. Throw him in the can!

(13,417 posts)Im guessing there was video camera footage somewhere that captured him in the act or in transport with the weapons. I have evidently missed how they were able to identify him. Unless facial recognition software is more advanced than I think, camera footage that follows him from the scene to his car is about all I can think of.

(18,633 posts)That wanted to know about the weapons
I have seen A LOT of posts about the shooter and several, besides this one, about the weapon. I have seen almost nothing about wanting information on the victims.
I think there is a conclusion to be drawn but I just haven't reached it yet.

I'm curious if he targeted women, as incels often do. Or did he randomly spray bullets hoping to kill as many as possible?

(21,753 posts)I bet a lot of gun humpers would take the use of a weapon in a mass shooting to be an endorsement.
"I want one of them like that guy used on that parade."
30 people hit in 7 seconds? Sounds like a formidable weapon.

(36,295 posts)and the finer details.
It's been identified as a high powered semi-automic rifle which, if accurate, precludes AR-15 style rifles which are commonly chambered to fire mid powered rounds
It could be the big brother of the AR15, the AR-10 style, which are considered high powered rifles as they are typically chambered to fire rounds that can take down elk, moose, beat, bison and other large game.
