the poor boy found himself alone. When I wondered how his parents possibly got separated from him and weren't frantically searching, it hit me... I really, really wanted to be wrong. So sad and horrifying that he saw his parents killed.

It will be a kindness if he doesn't remember what happened that day. At least he has loving grandparents to raise him.
