we are all vacced, boosted with the exception of our four year old granddaughter who was due for a shot in two weeks.

Daughter and Granddaughter came to visit. The granddaughter developed fever and cough and a consult with her pediatrician led to going to the ER.

She got treated for the fever and after a few days is back to normal. Our daughter had milder symptoms.

My wife had fever, dizziness, tiredness and ended up in the ER since she had potential risk factors and her Dr after a video consult told her to head there, get a blood test for liver function and got prescribed paxlovid. Apparently it could affect the liver ??

After four days she is almost back to normal but still tired.
Amazingly enough during the whole ordeal I stayed negative .

We did mask during the day and I rented a hotel room to sleep there at night and isolate. My daughter and granddaughter are isolating in our guest bedroom

Since I stayed negative I was running errands, getting food, etc..

Maybe I'm immortal .. My brother also never caught it even thought everybody around him did.

We are both vacced and boosted but still..
I wonder if some people are lucky to be less susceptible to it.

3. I'm feeling fine.

I've been testing daily. The chance of several false negatives are very small especially given that my family using the same test kits were positive so it's not that the test does not detect that strain.

4. It took 4 days of symptoms

before my test showed up positive. I just spoke with a neighbor and his whole family was sick/positive and he kept showing negative, every time. About a week later he tested positive. Very strange.

5. my granddaughter first was sick last Tuesday

so it has been 7 days. So far I've tested negative daily ( I started testing after 3 days to exposure knowing it would be negative before that)

6. when my autistic brother was dying of Parkinson's in hospice last year

he got Covid and seemed to easily shake it off

7. Same in my house

I slept in separate room after my spouse turned positive for covid. Spouse positive with symptoms starting June 19, visiting brother in law positive with symptoms starting June 14 - slept on a different floor. The 3 of us each ate alone, with me delivering 3 meals a day to the spouse and 3 to the brother in law. Still testing negative - no symptoms.

9. Same happened to me

my husband and daughter both got it. 2 PCR tests and daily rapid tests for over a week... and I never ever tested positive. So lucky. Especially since I didn't isolate from my daughter. (She even slept with me bc i have the luxury of working from home. My husband masked in the house and slept in her room while she slept with me. And he got it.)

There is a lot of luck in this. Also I had recently had a second booster prior to their infection, which mostly is why I believe I escaped.

10. My husband came down with covid on July 3. We are both vaccinated and double

boosted. He is miserable. He says even his teeth and fingernails hurt. He has been sleeping a lot. He decided against Paxlovid after talking to the doctor. I am testing negative and feel ok...Except my anxiety is really high! My husband says he can't imagine what he would feel like if he hadn't been vaccinated and boosted. Hope I don't get it.
When my husband took the home Covid test, the test showed positive IMMEDIATELY. Didn't take 15 minutes for the result. Wow.

12. I finally got it last week.

I had it saturday through monday was better tuesday thats when my wife start feeling bad tested positive and by friday she was better too. It was pretty bad like a medium bad flu with muscle soreness coughing sinus congestion... but much shorter in duration like 2.5 days of symptoms I think because we were vaxxed and boosted although 7 or 8 mos ago...

15. I contracted COVID 21 days after my second booster.

I had deliberately delayed my second booster to give me maximum immunity during a long-awaited dive trip and the week before.

Out of 100 on the dive trip, at least 25 have contracted COVID. A requirement to be on the trip was proof of vaccination - so all 100 of us were vaccinated. Most of us had mild cases - although 3 said their cases were more severe (including pretty severe GI involvement and some lung involvement).

16. my daughter and Granddaughter no doubt caught it flying

from Seattle to DC. The majority of people in the airport and plane were not masked.

17. A significant number of those I know who have flown recently have contracted COVID

I knew 8 people on the same flight back from Cozumel to Chicago (there may have been more - these were just the ones I recognized). Of those 8, I learned after the fact that 5 of us were positive for COVID (the requirement to test before re-entering the country ended June 12). One of the 8 had a fever the day before the flight AND tested positive, and still hopped on the plane unmasked. Of the remaining 4, I was the only one masked. About 95% of the plane was unmasked.

Fortunately, the person across the aisle from me was wearing a mask. Unfortunately, the person in the window seat (next to my unmasked spouse) was not wearing a mask.

There's someone on DU who claims to be an expert on COVID and airplanes - who insists that planes are far safer than airports. I don't believe it for a minute.
