Outlawing abortion is just a bad idea.

I’m an old man who’s probably already had his last sex, but that doesn’t mean I’ve turned against it.

In my mind, sex is the best it gets. It’s fun, good exercise and free! Most importantly, it’s life’s most spectacular form of intimacy. Think of music, think of poetry.

People are going to have sex. We humans love to make love. Of course, sometime procreation is what it’s all about, but that’s only “sometimes.”

Most of the time, the main point of sex is joy, communication, passion. Is there something wrong with embracing someone like your life depended on it?

Sometimes, in that embrace, by mistake, or bad luck, or carelessness, we create a fetus. In a desired pregnancy, common sense says that fetus is a wondrous miracle. In an unwanted pregnancy, common sense says that fetus is the equivalent of a bulldozer falling on a couple’s head.

All my life I’ve known the difference between a fetus and a baby. Now I’m being told there is no difference. That’s a distortion of words, and an error. The foundation of a house is not a “beloved home.” A three-month-old fetus is not a baby.

Having a kid shouldn’t be a surprise assignment from God. Raising a kid is a 21-year project that’s going to take up all of the parent(s)' resources. Even then, it might never be finished. Pushing people into parenthood is bad business.

Sex is beautiful. God did give it to us. We should not be asking every man and woman, every time they enjoy this gift, to be wagering on a lifelong obligation to raise a child.

The abortion alternative comes from our friend, science. It’s not the enemy.

Good essay though!

So sad but true.

As far as cropping and resizing, or just reading a copy and paste, I’m on the fence.

I’m 68 and remember when there wasn’t an internet. Reading a page from a newspaper seems to bring it home to me mentally. I KNOW that a human wrote that, and that a newspaper thought it worthy of being inked and applied to news paper. And then distributed in batches tied together with twine, and delivered to news stands and boxes on street corners and on front porches.

Either way, we get the news. One sometimes seems more real.

Think back to early man. It was thousands of years before a connection was made between sex and pregnancy. Even in modern times, tribes have been discovered who did not understand the connection.

That is true so why the heck were they having sex? Just like the letter says, people enjoy it and the feelings both emotional and physical that come with it.

Why can’t we have more level-headed people on the Supreme Court and in other positions of leadership in this country. I’m not saying there are none, I’m just saying they are in short supply. And we are losing ground every single day.

Thanks for posting. This is what everyone is thinking, but for some reason, no one is willing to say it out loud.

"Sometimes??"

I think I would have gone stark raving bazoonies if someone had told me on our wedding day that we were expected to have sex only often enough to have our two daughters.

I guess there are still some Republicans SOMEWHERE that might agree with that, but I doubt that they are many in number.

In some people's minds, anything done for fun has to be a SINNNNNNNN! The time spend making love could be better spent praising the Lord; he is insecure and requires constant praise from the millions or he gets pissed and send hurricanes or wars.)

to get laid.

Just kidding of course.

His way of thinking is entirely correct.

Sex is natural. A pleasurable and healthy thing.

Actually, so is masturbation. I still occasionally run across situations where people freak out if the concept of masturbation is mentioned.

I have two standard lines when speaking to people who are a little uptight about sex:

1) Then why did Jesus make me horny?

2) Why did God give me hands if he didn't want me to masturbate?

These statements usually don't go over real well.

I remember watching Hollywood Squares many, many years ago when Peter Marshall asked Paul Lynde, "Paul, are there any down sides to sex?"

Lynde answered, "Yes: children."

Sometimes poeple have sex because it's pleasurable. Cold-hearted, joyless religionists will never understand that, especially when everything under the sun is viewed as sinful and forbidden.

Just to ensure the "domestic supply of babies". Had a whiner where I work wondering why the company doesn't reimburse more than $10K for adoption. One reply was - the question is why does it cost that much to adopt? It is not moral or ethical. I agree - it is selling of a commodity, in this case a (usually white) infant.
