he'd be back in the US already. I understand they're desperate but cheap shots at the President is not the way to go.

There is a message here - when the US government tells you to leave a country, you listen and leave (or in Griner's case, you don't return). Griner may have thought she was safe because she was such a public figure. You don't substitute your own judgment for the governments in this situation.
I felt the same way re Afghanistan.

These things are very complicated. And adding a crazy fucker like Putin to the mix makes it even more so.
And the fact is there are some demands that just can't be met. It doesn't matter who is being held.
When you go into countries run by dictators who don't value human rights, you are taking a big risk
I would like to know why Brittany would go over there considering the news that Russia was going to invade Ukraine. Seems like her agents weren't looking out for her best interests.
