WASHINGTON A retired three-star general has been suspended from a $92-an-hour contract consulting the Army and is under investigation after posting a tweet that appeared to mock First Lady Jill Biden on a hot-button social issue, according to the Army.
Retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky, the Army's former top spokesman and recipient of the Silver Star for gallantry in Iraq, had been a "senior mentor," advising senior military officers, staff and students participating in war games and other military activities. Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin, commander of the Combined Arms Center, suspended Volesky pending the outcome of the inquiry, Cynthia Smith, an Army spokeswoman, told USA TODAY.
On June 24, Jill Biden posted a tweet condemning the Supreme Court's decision overturning the constitutional right to abortion, which read in part: "For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen."
Volesky replied with his own tweet: "Glad to see you finally know what a woman is".

Seems to me, Jill knows plenty about women

From soft lullabies to battle cries for justice, women nurse and nurture, teach and build, lead and dream our world forward each and every day.
Women have never been silent, but women have been silenced. Thats because our voices are powerful. When we raise them, we can tear down injustice, topple tyrants and demagogues and shatter the shields of oppression.
This International Womens Day, we honor women throughout the world who courageously use their voice, no matter the cost.
To our sisters from Ukraine who are fighting to keep their country free and their families alive: We stand with you in solidarity.
To our sisters in Russia who are protesting and speaking out against the invasion at great personal risk: We see your courage.
To women warriors around the world, those fighting for justice and working for change: Thank you for building a better future for all of us.

(22,439 posts)I am so sick of these remarks that imply a woman is not feminine. I had to go through that in the
80s when I started my professional career, when we had to be careful how we dressed, how we wore our hair, how we spoke, for fear of being marginalized as "not feminine."

(82,849 posts)Meant to reinforce the mistaken notion that there are two and only two sexes, allowing no consideration for persons who don't fit their binary.
