MIT scientists think they've discovered how to fully reverse climate change

“The idea revolves heavily around the creation and deployment of several thin film-like silicon bubbles. The “space bubbles” as they refer to them, would be joined together like a raft. Once expanded in space it would be around the same size as Brazil. The bubbles would then provide an extra buffer against the harmful solar radiation that comes from the Sun”

Send half the world population "into the cornfield" and you'd be making a small dent.

thing humanity could do for Planet Earth, the human (and myriad other) species, and quality of existence for
humanity in general.

Most of the "solutions" I see proposed just dig our hole deeper.

Otherwise, human population will be reduced through war, disease, extinctions, etc.

...a reduction in GDP. Capitalism strives on increased consumption.

Every basic econ text book will tell you in the first chapter and often in the first paragraph, "resources are scarce". And yet we have a predominant system that tries to maximize the use of those resources.

People wanted to dam Yosemite Valley, use geothermal factories in Yellowstone because just leaving nature alone was considered a waste of resources. Electric lighting became the impetus for people working longer hours as employers considered their workers duty to be more productive. No monetary value has been placed on not exploiting habitat, not using resources, having a content society, etc. Instead, get the biggest house, boat, RV, etc. And those who try to live minimalist, some communities try to outlaw it.

mankind is poisoning the atmosphere which is warming and melting both south and north poles. The UV rays in some portion may be somewhat altered but what about all the chemicals that flow in the air and are seeped in the ground and water.

For about a billion dollars a year, you flight a plane at the right altitude and spread sulfer dioxide (I think it was that).

It reflects incoming solar.

They were very confident it would work because from the geologic ice record they know there was a vocanoe that spewed enourmous amounts of sulfer dioxide in to the atmosphere and it cooled the planet.

I think it's long past time to get that plane up in the air.
