My guess, at least 80%.
Sorry, but it makes no good political sense to tell them to stop whining.
I heard a very condescending lecture on TV today saying just that. And about the protesters not voting enough. When those very people likely already voted for at least one Dem, in at least one of the last federal elections.
Here is what does work; strong, kind and inspirational leadership. Joe Biden is excellent at that. Is it wrong of me to ask him to do more of it, on any issue?
All of our leaders signed up for the job. They can take the bad polls and poor press. And even a protest or two. Certainly President Biden can. They all must have thick skin. They would never have gotten as far as they have if they could not handle it.
Certainly us reliable Dem voters should never feel like we need to hold back our opinions from our leaders.
Without accurate and constructive criticism we are all at the risk of losing the sharp edge we will all need to win in the end.
Listen to the protesters. They may have some good ideas. And we certainly need their energy and passion.
Don't forget that in the end, it is all of us who must be victorious in November.
Our base. our leaders, our protesters and we all need to lead by fighting hard for the promise of a better future for all Americans.
Now, I'm going to get back work here in my little dead-red town to try hard and pick off maybe just one more voter today.
Never give up!

(17,019 posts)anything to fix the problem to fix the problem. And the question isnt how many voted in 2020. Its how many voted for Hillary. The woman who warned what would happen if Trump was able to put judges on the USSC.

(7,702 posts)I'm thinking at least 75%.

(17,019 posts)There hadnt been much for what seemed like quite awhile. I think the J6 hearings are making some people very nervous and the desire to shift the blame to Biden for anything is very strong. Anything to move the spot light off what the repukes did and supported. I just want us to be smart enough not to follow that bouncing ball.
JoeOtterbein
(7,702 posts)...smart enough. We need to trust our base. Listen to them and ignore the trolls.

(17,019 posts)They are the ones we need and I worry they arent up to speed. My next door neighbor. Die hard Dem got sucked in by a tiktoc dude spouting Russian troll talking points. Yes, I explained it to her but
it worries me.

(6,977 posts)And they come back and tell me that they're still dogging Biden. I tell them to keep that shit to themselves, and to fuck BOTH those used to be (and still kind of are according to my friends) FatMogul45 ass-kissers.
I have to admit, that NO ONE I know tells me that they watch Andrea Mitchell anymore, so there is hope

(53,066 posts)And they work for me. I don't work for them, and I will not behave as though I am subservient to them. I live in a democracy. I have every right to criticize Democrats as well as Republicans. I have no sway over Republicans because they don't give a shit what I think because they know I don't vote for them. I don't live in their states or their districts. I live in a blue state, so I'll let my elected officials--the ones I actually vote for--know of my views when I'm upset about something, and the people who insist Democrats never do anything wrong don't have a right to restrict my thoughts or my speech. I believe in democracy, and until the Republicans end it I plan to exercise my rights.
Telling people to shut up is the best way to lose their votes.

(17,019 posts)I should have said screaming at the people who are on your side is generally not the best way to effect change.

(31,879 posts)That was the election that overturned Roe.
Our opponents played a 50 year long game and they showed up and voted for Trump in 2016.
Example - our side assumed a win in key states and voted 3rd party.
The Republican voters in 2016 bear responsibility for this.

(18,319 posts)Meanwhile, some folks (who are ostensibly on our side) are mocking the idea of the power of the vote in achieving both short and long term goals.
Why is anyone who claims to be on our side pushing narratives that will result in depressing Democratic Party vote?
Cui bono?
Not Democrats.

(89,264 posts)Then they are just people that do these things as a hobby and aren't really concerned about the issues.
We see this with the marches and other protests where certain types come out just because they want to be out in the crowds but they have no interest in the issue .
lapucelle
(18,319 posts)and they are not "our protestors". They are targeting Democrats, rather than Republicans, the Court, Republican state legislatures, and far right conservatives.

And how weird is it that rather than update their anti-Biden theme, they showed up at the White House still demanding that President Biden take action NOW, even though he had literally taken action YESTERDAY.
