must have been quietly amassing for some time, with training and planning to try a coup. Aside from the perps who led the crowd, the proud boys, oath keepers and others that made up the mob had to have been drilled and ready to assault the Capital.
They bided their time, but they are like an invisible traitor army, hiding in plain sight among the rest of us.
That would tie in with the r.w. insistence on unfettered gun ownership. Their army equips itself, doesn't require pay, and operates in small independent cells that can answer the call when it goes out on social media. They got their traitor leader, who encouraged them to overthrow the government. They did not succeed, but that traitor army is out there, waiting for another try.

(11,142 posts)or we will have to deal with them again. They are clearly traitors and must be treated as such.

(23,416 posts)their effort to overthrow our government will have energy.
I might turn the radio off when I hear CBS news cover a traitor speech, and I might mute MSNBC if they show tapes of traitor talking. But that doesn'r mean his adoring fans don't turn up the volume.

(2,010 posts)Three percenters formed the year before that, but dissolved in 2021.
And the proud boys formed in 2016, as a "traitor army" to serve the right wing, as you said.
Tfg was their champion, and he embraced them, enabled them.
I believe their formations were largely motivated by hate and racist ideologies. The oath keepers formed in response to electing a black man. The 3% formed as he was running. And the proud boys formed to serve as a private right wing militia for tfg and the right wing hate agenda.
Slavery ended in the 1860's, yet we fought for civil rights and desegregation 100 years later, up to today. Women's suffrage happened in between, and now we are at risk. As much of the country celebrated and embraced and worked towards becoming an open, equal, progressive society, there were always those factions who objected to this. Kkk and the many hate groups that followed over the years continued to procreate and propagate their ideologies. And I believe the plotting started back then, with a confederate manifesto like "How to take the Capitol"
I agree with what you said, obviously. Their numbers have grown and gotten more organized with rw media propaganda, and technology allowing the same as well as connections made on social media. They are an armed minority, but I believe many are being monitored at this point, not to mention those who have been arrested and charged with serious crimes.
As long as I'm sharing my thoughts on this, I'll add that I've wondered if many of the mass shootings have been encouraged by these groups, not just inspired. Like a suicide bomber.
The real crazy ones who wouldn't make it in the militias, encouraged to act alone. A private mission. Just go out and kill, wound, maim, create terror, while the militias are training.
.
Your last point has been on my mind since Uvalde.

(10,748 posts)... there are some groups that dwell on and celebrate mass murders, so there is definitely encouragement out there. Sick fucks.

(23,416 posts)I have stopped assuming that all people were on board with civil rights. The stupid among us focus on obvious differences, such as skin color or gender, to spew their hatred. The despots use that stupid hatred to energize their power grabs, with a tacit promise that their supporters will get power over other humans as well. The sad thing is, the despot won't share power and will probably kill off many of his own supporters.
I remember a quote about women learning to read in one generation, then being denied in the next. There were educated women still living, but in despair of their limits. I would like to live to see civil rights, human rights, codified, so they aren't a whim from one generation to the next. Although, realistically speaking, the cops won't give you a ticket for speeding or ask to see your gun-totin' license, so who would enforce the legality of civil rights? And the christian churches seem to have abandoned teaching 'love thy neighbor' and schools are getting gagged. In a country of democracy!

(1 post)Supremacy been around since a certain group landed on Plymouth Rock with ill intentions.
Colonialist realized propaganda is needed for the better good of having power. Brute force
was obviously not enough; but, needed to divide us as a people. This went straight into the
introduction of the U.S.A. or U.S.B.A.
No, slaves were not freed in the 1860's. The 13th & 14th Amendment has a clause where Congress
can change the game. Unfortunately, we can (this does include whites & women) be attacked at any
given time by a stroke of a pen & aggressive enforcement.
What we see today are a bunch guys walking around with assault weapons who are not in the
military. They are not being disarmed. They are not required to show their I.D. And, they are
not required to prove they have a CCW. This is a failure by local government to give groups like
this the 'rite of passage'
The 2nd Amendment is, short & contradictory. I'm am 100% for protecting self & property; but,
not allowed to own a firearm without jumping threw hoops. Chances are, I would probably still
be denied. It's something about women, that scare men (lol).

(53,509 posts)that scares a lot of men. Could be guilt or the fear that payback is in the offing. It is often passed down over many generations.
