We speak witty and direct, they attack.
So she yelled the facts, and they tried to silence...
The problem is we won't go quickly into the night.
I'm thankful for anyone ready to challenge the white right patriarch.

(9,090 posts)- and not the athletic dept. it's an angle dems can use that will scare the crap out of republicans everywhere
on fakenewsradio.org it's one of 87+ supporting 260 + xLimbaugh stations ......
PENNSYLVANIA 14 Penn St. 11, Pittsburgh 2, Temple 1
the university brand managers, diversity related depts, related student activist groups etc all should know. the dept that manages and protects university reputation/brand need to see these associations with radio stations that have been working to kill Roe and deny global warming and COVID as toxic.
whenever a democrat does something like that and stands out republican think tanks and politicians make sure the local RW radio blowhards attack her. it might be for that or it might be something else in her life they can use and often it might be lying and always exaggeration and out of context bullshit. if that vid gets more famous the national blowhards on those stations, like bongino, hannity, levin, will get involved in attacking her, trying to shut her up.
if PA dems want to get her back, one way is to push penn state or even Pitt or Temple to look for apolitical alternatives and get their brands and mascots and logos off those stations. all it would take is a public discussion that would get wild cause the republicans would scream bloody murder bullshit about free speech. advertisers will head for the hills. it could snowball. the ad agencies would have to force some of those stations to change programming. the attention, even without real change before the elections, would destroy republican chances.

(58,785 posts)Grievance, victimization messages don't work for me. I like empowered women saying, hell no!, so I like this legislator's noisy voice. But her ridiculous insistence that women, who have the vote!, are silenced victims of others is embarrassing, and offensive.
If millions of proabortion females hadn't SELF-silenced entirely on their own for years and whole decades, this could never have happened.
On the plus side, it's outraging more into UN-silencing themselves and joining those of us who would never sit still for silencing, much less embrace it as our reality.
We'll get to see, though, how many realize that their vote is the one way they can speak out that the supposed silencers HAVE to listen to.

(58,785 posts)Victimization messages are what I'm objecting to. They appeal to a type. Like those women who actually choose to characterize themselves as helpless "Handmaid" style sex slaves instead of very pissed-off and empowered voters. (Good god, could some leaderless wannbe feminists have wandered off and fallen down this rabbit hole? Someone needs to tell them a "fourth wave" is not playing out on its backs in the dark.)
Seriously, the most positive interpretation I'm imagining is that grievance/victimization politics are HUGE these days among RW voters, and maybe this PA rep is trying to twang a chord she knows resonates with both the type on the left and hopefully even larger numbers on the right.
ecstatic
(35,066 posts)legislators who are being silenced while refugs try to take away women's rights in the dead of the night. Each of those silenced legislators represent hundreds of thousands of citizens in their districts. So when refugs silence them, they're silencing the voters as well, which, by the way, they already tried to silence them (us) in 2020 as well. Republicans are racist, anti-democratic fascists. Plain and simple.

when our representative government works as it's intended. Our founders' intention was not to institutionalize "silencing" everyone else but to arrive at answers that worked for the most people.
So we don't like what the legislative MAJORITIES created by majorities of those who voted in PA are doing with their power, but most of the minority who voted them in do! They're thrilled.
It's not like we didn't know today's Republicans always misuse their power. We've watched them become increasingly extreme and anti-democratic for over 30 years, accelerating big time after 2008 and doubling down on that, becoming openly fascistic, with 2016.
They're so bad that increasingly radicalized Republican minorities are ONLY able to keep electing them because they get help from millions who at least lean left. So, NO to excuses for dangerously irresponsible LW voter behaviors, including refusal of personal responsibility. People who voted Democratic were not silenced: they spoke but were outnumbered by RW crazies and LW abettors. We're all reaping their whirlwind.
Oh, and speaking of not being fools, eyes on the various anti-Democratic LW organizations using agitprop to turn fear and anger at what the Republicans are doing against Democrats. There's an existential election coming up fast, and they have to keep people from voting to save, much less enlarge, our Democratic majorities.

(106,155 posts)and to require ID at the polls.
...
Here we are being silenced once again, McClinton declared. Understand when youre silencing [opposition lawmakers] youre silencing millions of voters from every corner of the commonwealth. When you silence us and dont allow us to amend bills that wont let people vote, that wont allow women to make their own decisions, youre silencing all of us.
The Pennsylvania Senate on Friday approved a proposal which was later also supported in a House vote to add language to the state Constitution stating explicitly that the document does not guarantee any rights relating to abortion or public funding of abortions.
A last-minute addition would also require voters to show identification at polling places, not just when they register to vote, which is currently required.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/penn-rep-tees-off-colleagues-040403399.html
What I'm not sure is exactly what "dont allow us to amend bills" means - sounds like the Republicans used some dubious procedure to force this through. Anyone know?
