The militia group 'First Amendment Praetorian' (1AP) is under investigation by the Jan 6 Committee. Made up largely of "Special Forces veterans and former intelligence officials" they helped to funnel data on purported election fraud to lawyers suing to overturn the vote count. The group's leader, Robert Patrick Lewis, was issued a subpoena by the House Select Committee and they have obtained numerous audio recordings of 1AP members.

With echoes of the Nazi Reichstag Fire, their goal was to demonstrate that Antifa was staging a massive "Tet Offensive" bent on destroying the global order, and their goal was also to safeguard free speech rights from “tyrannical, Marxist subversive groups.”

None of 1AP’s top operatives have been arrested in connection with the Capitol riot, and it remains unclear how much influence they exerted or how seriously criminal investigators are focused on them. Still, the group had men on the ground outside the building on Jan. 6 and others at the Willard Hotel, near some of Mr. Trump’s chief allies. And in the days leading up to the assault, 1AP’s Twitter account posted messages suggesting that the group knew violence was imminent.

“There may be some young National Guard captains facing some very, very tough choices in the next 48 hours,” read one message posted by the group on Jan. 4.

In the interview, Mr. Rhodes described how the two groups worked together at the rally. He then urged Mr. Trump to “wage war” against “traitors” at home by imposing martial law. That was the same message that Ms. Powell, Mr. Flynn and others in their orbit were advising at the time.

Mr. Lewis says he played his own small part in the effort to persuade Mr. Trump to declare martial law. On Dec. 18, he said on a podcast last year, he drove Ms. Powell and Mr. Flynn to the White House to meet with Mr. Trump. It is not clear whether Mr. Lewis attended the meeting, where Ms. Powell and Mr. Flynn urged the president to declare a national emergency and demand a recount of key swing states on live TV, according to the business executive Patrick M. Byrne, who was also there.

8. It's interesting to note that...

the Roman government had no way to peacefully transfer power from one emperor to the next. It was the Roman Senate that ultimately took care of Julius Caesar.

5. One site reported that "1AP" got subpoenas from the J6 committee in 2021.

A witness testifying to the J6 committee also reported what she took as death threats from 1AP, which initially caused her to draw back from testifying, but she went forward. Also bet that at least someone in 1AP is regretting that comment that National Guard captains had some interesting choices to make on J6.

Best guess some are on the DoJ's very long to-do list, but prioritized how?

We know a lot of these paramilitary types were products of the post-Vietnam War disaffection. i read somewhere that the ones in 1AP were extremists distilled from former Green Beret vet groups, and that source said they were dangerous. True or not, no idea.
