If I read that as part of a speech to Latinos, I would have said, "No way in hell am I going to say that. Take it out".

After seeing more of the context of the speech, I changed my mind. There doesn't seem to be anything inherently offensive about acknowledging something specifically unique about a community of Latinos.

If Jill Biden were in East Los Angeles, she might have mentioned the murals, or the lowrider vehicles, which are a unique part of LA Latino culture.

It was like the fentanyl of cringe.

But seriously, who was the speech writer? If someone told me it was actually written by an animated golem torn from the cliffs of Dover, I would suspend my disbelief.

The whole thing was weird. It was like, "Someone was paid - in money! - to write this." Were they hired off Kendall Jenner's Pepsi commercial?

I would check with folks in San Antonio. If that is something special within the community, that they are known for, then she is acknowledging a part of what makes Latinos in San Antonio unique.

Also, if a Republican made this comment, people here would be all over it. Yet when a Democrat does it, the assertion is that no one has a right to be offended. It simply wasn't a wise move on the First Lady's part, but she has now apologized, as was right.

I will not be a hypocrite. Stuff like this is decidedly not why they have a MINORITY. Perhaps it hasn't dawned on you that a party doesn't strive to be in the minority. Minority means by its very definition that the party is outnumbered. Your comment doesn't make sense.

My mind and views don't exist for anyone's entertainment. And it's clearly you who doesn't know what a minority is. Additionally, if you don't want attention brought to it, why are people posting OPs about it? That is who is advertising it.

I’m assuming she reads the speech before giving it. Boggles the mind she didn’t notice that as massively inappropriate.

How about, “as unique as a southwestern sunrise” or anything like that. Breakfast tacos? Holy crap.
