(64,324 posts)Van Tatenhove is dressed like every other rightwing militia guy; wearing this costume makes his come to Jesus moment more credible.
A denim jacket is now right wing militia attire? What do you wear? Sweater vests?

(18,060 posts)I dress in jeans, t-shirts, cowboy boots, and I own a lined denim jacket, I have a beard, does that mean I'm dressed just like every RW militia guy?

(18,060 posts)But I do have a USMC logo tattooed on my shaved head and various other tattoos
Just because someone looks different is no reason to judge them, i really thought we were better than that.
Most of my trucking friends dress like that, doesn't mean they're RQWNJ's.
Bottom line is don't judge a book by it's cover.

(9,147 posts)Guilty.
MarineCombatEngineer
(18,060 posts)When did that happen?
You're thinking of Mr. Ayers, not the other guy.

(18,621 posts)The Oath Keepers, a group made up of heavily-armed ex-military, former (and current) police officers and other like-minded violent folks, who are always spoiling for a fight and dedicated to the violent overthrow of America, people won't judge you.

(57,757 posts)who doesn't look like us or says anything that suggests they aren't one of us. Never mind their testimony condemns Trump. They aren't one of us, and that is what matters.

(4,616 posts)He looked like a LOT of us. He's wearing a denim jacket FFS. Who knew The Gap and Old Navy are where Hell's Angels and right-wing militias shop!

(8,849 posts)he's articulate..and he's obviously scared and ashamed..but I don't forgive either one of these guys, I don't care if they are belatedly remorseful...they have children..they teach their children right from wrong..and yet, overthrowing their government at the behest of a depraved narcissistic sociopath was the right thing to do???...

(18,060 posts)who fricken cares how he's dressed, it's his testimony I'm interested in.

(9,147 posts)NOW he's trying to save his ass. Brave, no.
MarineCombatEngineer
(18,060 posts)He didn't get caught at anything, he wasn't even at the J6 insurrection, he had already left the Oaf Keepers long before the insurrection, you're thinking of Mr. Ayers.

(29,369 posts)He seems sincere and regreatful, and appearing to testify live is very brave of him. More brave than most people who worked for Trump's Admin and Congressional GOP, all of whom can afford much better attorneys than Mr. Jason Van Tatenhove.
He is a Rust Belt good old boy. Who cares wtf he wears.

(2,369 posts)My goodness. He didn't bow and scrape hard enough. He didn't give up his kid's doctor's appointment to buy a suit. He has a... *gasp* visible tattoo...
Jirel
(2,369 posts)He's a right wing reporter/media ass who saw the light. Great. Who says he needs to play the expensive game of kissing the ring in DC and showing up in the nicest thing he can buy if he gives up groceries for two weeks? He's not one of the DC "royal court," and he has zero need to be the peasant bowing and scraping and apologizing for what he wears, just to walk among them.
Amazing. Between this and the comments about his tattoos... no wonder some people complain that Dems are out of touch with the problems of lower income folks.
Golden Raisin
(4,755 posts)Maybe he doesn't own or can't afford a suit. Or maybe he doesn't care. He showed up, testified publicly and under oath, and probably has made a lot of enemies amongst his former associates.

(9,147 posts)Just a few of the sweet terms to describe the lovely Oath Keeper or Proud Boy who testified today. His come to jebuz moment came when he was caught. Let's not make a hero of this guy or the other one because they are now doing the right thing. He didn't seem to have trouble getting together money to get to Washington and stay at a sweet hotel for awhile while getting ready to overthrow democracy. Spare me the good boy tears.

his testimony very much.
As Chuck Rosenberg says, repeatedly, It would be nice if all our witnesses were nuns and choirboys, but theyre not. You go with the witnesses you have.
