"Damning evidence" means ::: it suggests very strongly that someone is guilty of a crime or has made a serious mistake.

I understand the impulse on the part of a lot of people to wonder if the committee hearing is really going to be all that worthwhile or if they'll really deliver the goods. Shit, I remember Nixon walking away scot-free, Reagan being let off the hook because he would have been too senile to comprehend a criminal prosecution, lame duck Bush I's midnight pardons of his Iran-contra co-conspirators, and looking forward not backward in absolving the Bush II administration of its crimes against humanity.

But the Jan. 6 committee is one of the most hopeful congressional efforts since the Church Commission. They've promised to deliver the goods on the former guy and they've kept their promises. In full, every time.

Sorry, I don't have the full list, but it's the suspects we already knew about - Gym Jordan, Gaetz, Traitor Green, etc. I hope they're all wearing their brown pants today! (Actually, I don't. That would be most excellent.)

They were trying to pack the committee with the people the committee-to-be already knew were guilty as hell. The point was to disrupt the committee with constant showboating and drama, and make it both ineffective and nothing more than a media distraction.
