I went through my history and tapped on an old DU thread, and then was able to get from there to here.

Intermittent.

Restarting the browser should clear caches and get you back in business. Though, you will lose your 22 tabs.

Hint, on mac, force quitting a browser may cause it to try to restore tabs when re-opened.

I just did that.

It worked.

And then the miserable SOB wouldn't let me log in.

12. Yes, My screen is white but 'forbidden'

appears in the upper left hand corner. I got to the site by going to Google and typing Democratic Underground in the search box. Next, I click on General Discussion in my options. My bookmark only brought me to the Forbidden option.

I have been finding that doing a (SHIFT-REFRESH) has been able to get me out of it - at least the past hour's worth of incidents (earlier that didn't work).
