Doesn't Work That Way, Sir

Politics on a national scale is a business of building group identities, of getting as many people as possible to range themselves under your banner. Doing this successfully requires a unity of purpose and identity. People want to join in something solid, not something fractious. The former inspires confidence, the latter does not. Spend all your time attacking your fellows, no one wants to join. Why should they, what's there to join?

It is not about influencing. It's about inspiring. About getting people to say these are my guys, man....

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
