Have you ever had some fact---maybe one you'd been trying to ignore---finally "sink in" and

make you feel like the bottom of your stomach had dropped out?

What I am talking about: Doug Mastriano actually may be elected governor of Pennsylvania and Herschel Walker may be elected a US Senator from Georgia.

You see, I am so old I remember when these candidates would have been laughed out of even a Republican primary. To be fair, though, that was back when shame and embarrassment were "things".

It is pretty unnerving. I'm trying not to dwell too much on the things I cannot control, but it is really hard. It is like living in some bizarre nightmare and I can't wake up.

no longer means "got the provable majority of votes".

Were that the case, and if everyone could vote & that vote be accurately counted, neither of those two would have a chance.

While walking into work that next Wednesday morning and for some time afterwards: Almost like a family member had died. Unforgettable.

It was decades ago. I remember my horror when I realized that it wasn't enough to reduce carbon emissions; we had to eliminate them because of how long they stay in the atmosphere. I believed immediately that our species isn't up to the task. I remember that every time I read about a government announces plans to drill more or burn more coal because of an emergency--as is happening now because of the war in Ukraine.

You can take that to the bank.

Josh Shapiro will be our next Governor of PA, John Fetterman will be our next Senator from PA.

with blatantly stealing the 2000 election. I suddenly realized everything I’d been taught about US “democracy” was a lie and we were no better than the banana republics we had been sneering at.
