It is possible and I think will happen but probably not in my lifetime. It's so damn hot these days that I see no good reason to stay here but too old to leave at this point.

I get rid of them. Same for two states that will never change. Draw a border and do not recognize the newly formed country, Dumbfuckistan, declare the country of Dumbfuckistan a state sponsor of terror.

people who soldiered for the south were required to sign loyalty oaths to get their citizenship back. There was a cabal who wouldn't sign and moved to Brazil, and established what is still called 'Little America'. I can see it being a slippery slope, but it'd get rid of some bad apples.

I can dream.

With their large number of Electoral College votes, especially Texas, republicans would never again win a National Election. To say nothing of losing fairly reliably red Senate seats.

You do realize that there are millions of Democrats in TX and FL, myself included. Do you also realize that there are loads of Republicans in all the other states?

What do you propose we Democrats in FL do? Stop fighting? Leave?

I've lived in FL for 30 years and yes, it has gotten very frustrating. But every day, in my little red county, I see Democrats working hard to get Dems elected in this state.

Your suggestion is insulting to all of us.

I'm not offended. I agree secession would never happen, but I like to dream. That way, hopefully, my family would finally be convinced we need to get the fuck out of here.

The question is how do we filter out the deplorables and stop them from migrating northward.

The general trend is migration from the North to the South. I am a native Floridian, a Yellow Dog Democrat, son of a Yellow Dog Democrat, who was the son of a Yellow Dog Democrat. There was a time, not too long ago, when elections were generally decided in the Democratic Primaries. Between 2010 and 2020 our population grew by over 15%, a lot of that was well off people from the North escaping snow, many of the very conservative.

Damn the Republicans, not the general population.

Now, Texas is another matter....
