Frankly, he’s more an acquaintance than a friend. My family used to have box seat season tickets at the local AAA ballpark. He was often seated behind us in reserved seating, and in the late innings would come down to say hello.

My mom died in 1988. He had no reason to know that, but he had heard me speak of her. Every time he came down, he would ask how my mom was. That was nice of him, after the first 2-3 times, I took to replying, “Still dead, Mark.” He still kept asking, though.
