PopeHat explains why people saying the 10yo could have had abortion in Ohio are lying or stupid

Unrolled thread

Nothing in here would make a doctor reasonably confident that performing an abortion on a raped 10-year-old, absent a specific and documented issue about the particular raped 10-year-old. /1

/2 Could a physician conclude that any 10-year-old faces a substantial risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function if they gestate and give birth? Maybe, so I hear from doctors. But ……

/3 …is it clear that authorities will agree? Absolutely not. You’d be a fool, and commit malpractice, to tell a doctor they could rely on that argument. You’d be counting on the decency, fairness, and justice of the government.

/4 And bear in mind this is the AG’s BEST STATEMENT to support the prior assertions that a 10-year-old could get an abortion in Ohio. If there were a clearer argument they’d make it.

The people telling you the 10-year-old could get an abortion in Ohio are ignorant or lying.

/5 If the language strikes you as ambiguous, you’re right. That’s by design. The language is designed to make it uncertain for doctors whether they can perform an abortion. It’s designed to deter even abortion that a doctor thinks is necessary at the cost of women’s lives.

Agreed. If the prosecutor, for any reason, did not like the physician performing such an abortion, John1956PA Jul 2022 #1
And you know they'll do it to deter other doctors from performing abortions. Nevilledog Jul 2022 #2

the physician would be at risk of being charged with a crime under the statute.

Neither doctors nor lawyers can rely on precedent or logic since the Subversive Court (formerly and formally, the Supreme Court) disposed of both.
