Many red-state Trump voters say they'd be 'better off' if their state seceded from U.S.

Red-state Donald Trump voters are now more likely to say they’d be personally “better off” (33%) than “worse off” (29%) if their state seceded from the U.S. and “became an independent country,” according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll.

It’s a striking rejection of national unity that dramatizes the growing culture war between Democratic- and Republican-controlled states on core issues such as guns, abortion and democracy itself. And an even larger share of red-state Trump voters say their state as a whole would be better off (35%) rather than worse off (30%) if it left the U.S.

The survey of 1,672 U.S. adults, which was conducted from July 8 to 11, comes as a series of hard-line conservative decisions by the Supreme Court — coupled with continued gridlock on Capitol Hill — have shifted America’s center of political gravity back to the states, where the parties in power are increasingly filling the federal void with far-reaching reforms of their own.

The further apart they push their states — on voting rights, on misinformation, on post-Roe regulations, on gun-safety measures — the more the country morphs into what one political analyst has described as “a federated republic of two nations: Blue Nation and Red Nation.”

states pay for a higher percentage of benefits vs. the red states.

That's one thing about 50 states and territories, is that we really don't see the dollars going in or out on a per state basis very often, all we hear about is the total federal budget (which some bemoan, but they often leave out that portion of the fed. budget that their state is receiving vs. paying for).

Red States are moochers who receive more Federal tax dollars than they pay out. Some by a huge margin. Blue States on average, pay out more Federal tax dollars than they get back in assistance. So essentially, Blue States are subsidizing these Red States and their piss-poor educational, healthcare, and other systems. Go ahead and secede. See what happens when you can't leech off of that tax money anymore.

It means no more Social Security.

No more subsidies for Medicaid

No more Medicare.

No more food stamps or whatever they are calling it now.

No more federal subsides for roads, hospitals, emergency relief, agriculture, airports, law enforcement and hundreds of programs the federal government subsidies.

It means vastly lowered or No minimum wage, labor protection, disability, workman's compensation and unemployment compensation.

It means 33% reduced forestry services. You know all those tourist destinations that bring millions to states like in the Great Smokie Mountains.

I hate it when polls make it sound so easy to secede.

It would be worse then Brexit because the UK was not getting subsidies from the EU and the EU wasn't funding part of their citizen's retirements.

It's a completely stupid idea. Even the filthy rich would lose money on such a deal.

Most of these red states have state governments highly dependent on federal money. Out of the union, even if Texas& Florida went with them, most would default on loans & bonds in 3 years or less.

Red states dominate the top 10. Eight of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government traditionally vote Republican. New Mexico (No. 2) is the only state in the top 10 to vote for the Democratic candidate in any of the last six presidential elections. Maine (No. 8), which splits its delegates, has voted for both Democrats and Republicans in the recent elections.

The article i linked is about how the state government is financially dependent on federal money.
But, there's no doubt there's overall economic dependency in those states.
Here's a good site that ranks states both ways. This is actually the one i meant to go to. I have it bookmarked but forgot that.
