When a NASA climate scientist is sounding the alarm....

I wish everyone on Earth knew how genuinely "off the charts" key planetary trends are right now, and how abnormal and critical it is. Things like atmospheric CO2 fraction, heat extremes on land and ocean, biodiversity loss and extinction rates. All alarms should be going off

economic changes. COVID opened a few eyes by showing we all don't need to live the whole house and 2 cars in the suburbs and endless debt regime. But far too many still expect to live that advertiser's magic dream, or a variation.

Day-to-day life goes on. People thing, "It'll be ok", "Earth wouldn't do that to us", "Not my problem", etc.

Like Covid, once the body bags didn't pile up, life could go on.

I fear we're heading to a place that we don't want to be

Fri Jul 15, 2022, 11:10 PM

First sign of the climate entering a chaotic state will be when crops fail on an increasingly larger scale. Not completely, but yields and quality will reduce. Prices will go up, quality will go down. Then entire plantings will fail. But not everywhere at once. So food prices will go way up. Produce first since it's quickest to market, then meat and manufactured products like bread, pasta and so on.

The key to feeding as many people as modern farms do is predictable weather. We are losing that predictability, right now.

The billionaires will still get their food.

Just like China got the output of American meat packing plants (which they own) in 2020 while we looked at empty grocery store shelves.

So there's no need to worry, the rich will be OK.

For a while.

The word does not get out because mass media does not let it. The big TV media companies actively suppress facts about climate change. The TV "weathermen" are not allowed to call attention to patterns of extreme heat or drought. What they can say is "lots and lots of wonderful sunshine this week". Big corporations are afraid they will not make maximum profits if the have to change their businesses in order to avert climate change.

Likewise for campaign funding. Politicians that tell the truth about climate change lose corporate donors, and so the facts are suppressed again.

What I don't get is what planet the big money bosses think they are going to live on.

Possibly some are motivated by the devil to wreak havoc.

Others, like Joe Manchin I think, really are as dumb as donkeys. His very small brain cannot learn about climate change nor its causes and mechanisms. He can't learn that any more than a cat can learn to speak English.

So what's the solution?? It would involve getting the big money players to have a change in motivation.

Rare is the post of a DUer talking about moving out of an area predicted to be hard hit by climate change to a location predicted to be less hard hit like the upper Great Lakes region and parts of the Appalachians.
