We're losing democracy and freedom and probably about half of America doesn't even know it.

our 1/3 see it clearly and are losing our minds over it.

"Their" 1/3 see it clearly and are enthusiastically and cravenly working to make it happen.

Then there is about 1/3 in the "middle" who are mostly clueless.

People want to think it is two sides thing only.

But, the problem is we are not 50% give or take, we are around a third.

They tell them it is Democrats trying to take away democracy and freedom. Many of their voters believe anything they are told and are ignorant of what they are voting for. That’s why I take in consideration their ignorance factor, plus non-voters, that the actual number of people who don’t realize Republicans are planning to elect a dictator for life could easily push to 50% or even beyond. My references for calculation start with the 2020 election that Biden got ~ 85 million votes to 75 million for Trump, and then factor in the voting data from the below website that indicated about 60% of eligible voters voted in the 2020 election.

https://usafacts.org/articles/how-many-americans-voted-in-2020/

This data suggests that 40% of eligible voters didn’t vote for President in 2020. If we are going to have any chance to defend our democracy successfully, I believe we have to reach out in a very powerful way to this 40% with the truth of what is happening to their freedom.

Massive resistance through direct actions in response to the abuse and removal of each freedom is just so messy and uncomfortable.

Like frogs in the slowly heating heating pot.

… until the fascist (aka Republicans) decimate social security and Medicare.

This seems inexplicable to many forgetting that the $3 trillion in the social security trust fund - wholly invested in special Treasury bills paying 2% interest - was just peachy keen with our oligarchs. It was a big piggy bank for them in that it was that much less in taxes that they could potentially be asked to pay. Now that boomers are retiring, cash flow reverses and the risk of higher taxes on them grows. So, naturally, “we” can’t afford social security and cut, cut, cut!!

As for Medicare, we’re just not allowed to have nice things.

Unfortunately frogs will be stuck in the pot once the powers that be put the lid on it.
