(17,201 posts)given up over the past 90 years. They are still beating the same fear mongering drum about horror! socialism, or worse! communism. They werent dormant, just being covert over most of those years. They learned from 33-34: better to keep your head down until you actually have sufficient authoritarians in power. Most frightening, they did that really well.

blazing intellect - crippled by an aloof, detached - unaware, unconnected (and sometimes uncaring) personality. you wouldn't have wanted to live with the man.

(7,604 posts)Zappa wrote much worse. Zappa mocked the sexually repressive mores of the time. His satire pointed at power hungry sexualized males. He made it all ridiculously crazy as social commentary. Ive been a Zappa listener for decades and dont believe that Zappas lyrics were ever a big part of his legacy. It was his musical genius that made its mark with decades of rock, avant-garde, and jazz.
