(3,807 posts)Thats how its going down in my book, when an agency with law enforcement at its core takes such an egregious action.

(6,017 posts)I was going to type supporters but there are far too many who are openly, actively Constitutional Sheriff and Peace Officers Association members, or otherwise have ties to Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and other usually local militia groups. Usually white supremacists, Christian nationalists, and so on...

My grandpa used to call them tin badges.
As soon as they get something pinned on their chest, start strutting and throwing their weight around.
Like they the cock of the walk or something.
Something else I learned from my folk; always know where johnny law is, always.

The corruption and complicity of tin pot local police and such is no surprise at all.
The involvement and apparent rank corruption of such a storied and previously respected agency as the Secret Service is appalling. Heads need to roll, but Im not holding my breath. Truly, everything Mango Mussolini touches
dies.

(32,609 posts)Further, I think that the reason Trump got so mad about going to the capitol and had such a big reaction was because after he got in the limo he was informed that the plot to kidnap Pence had failed. Trump assumed he would be walking into a clear playing field as a returning champion and the SS had screwed up. Ornato needs to go along with several other plotters.

(4,395 posts)He wouldn't have known in the limo that Pence had refused to go with SS because that didn't happen for another hour.

(9,789 posts)Assuming that the Secret Service was joined at the hip with the conspiracy, why would they stop TFG from making his entrance?
He would walk in defeated at his own game, after the "Mike Pence was killed by Antifa" part failed. (no martial law? Damn!)
The Secret Service knew the script better than he did.
Presuming he's dumb as a brick at any mental activity other than grifting, that would mean the "Willard" gang.
I like to think of them as the "Flint-Stones"

(4,461 posts)to the Capitol story is cosplay. Im not endorsing any other part of this conspiracy discussion, but that story has always struck me as utter bullshit.

(15,601 posts)Ornato was in the limo with tantruming Trump, then, after Trump was safely back at the WH, Ornato went to the Capitol and was the driver of the vehicle attempting to abduct Pence.

(37,449 posts)Im not getting in the car, Tim, Pence replied. I trust you, Tim, but youre not driving the car. If I get in that vehicle, you guys are taking off. Im not getting in the car.
The Pences then made their way to a secure underground area to wait out the riot.
Back at the White House, Kellogg was worried about Pences safety and went to find Trump.
Is Mike okay? the president asked him.
The Secret Service has him under control, Kellogg told Trump. Karen is there with the daughter.
Oh? Trump asked.
Theyre going to stay there until this thing gets sorted out, Kellogg said.
Trump said nothing more. He didnt express any hope that Pence was okay. He didnt try to call the vice president to check on him. He just stayed in the dining room watching television.
Around this time, Kellogg ran into Tony Ornato in the West Wing. Ornato, who oversaw Secret Service movements, told him that Pences detail was planning to move the vice president to Joint Base Andrews.
You cant do that, Tony, Kellogg said. Leave him where hes at. Hes got a job to do. I know you guys too well. Youll fly him to Alaska if you have a chance. Dont do it.
Pence had made clear to Giebels the level of his determination and Kellogg said there was no changing it.
Hes going to stay there, Kellogg told Ornato. If he has to wait there all night, hes going to do it.
Ornato, through a spokesman, denied having this conversation.
