Conservative blocs unleash wave of litigation to curb public health powers

Well, that's just effing great.

Through a wave of pandemic-related litigation, a trio of small but mighty conservative legal blocs has rolled back public health authority at the local, state and federal levels, recasting America's future battles against infectious diseases.

Covid certainly has been bad and we have been harmed by being prevented from doing more in the months and years since Covid struck, but if something worse hits us in the future, public health officials will be straightjacketed and have a harder time mobilizing an immediate and strong response and we'll really be in trouble. These people are too short-sighted to understand and appreciate this.

One would think covid would have made an impact…but can’t fix stupid. Yes, covid was bad, there are so so many other things that could be much worse

Imagine a contagious disease with a 5% fatality rate and with public health officials unable to stop it due to these idiot libertarians.

BTW, smallpox had a 30% fatality rate. Smallpox is now gone, thanks to the public health measures rolled back by this litigation.
