Biden's low poll numbers highlight the ignorance of the American voters.

The main driver of the low polling is inflation, according to all of the pundits and poll takers.
Biden is NOT responsible for gas prices. Crude oil and gas are sold on the world market over which
no POTUS has control, unless the people decide to nationalize the oil industry, which definitely
would not happen. Salvador Allende tried that if I remember correctly and he was killed in a CIA
led coup d'etat and the people got the dictator Pinochet for 27 years.
Bare greed by huge corporations are a big driver of higher prices as well. All of those corporations
are making record profits with no regard to the sufferings of the US people. Our own Mansion and
Cinema are double-handedly throwing huge roadblocks up to halt progress on many issues very
important to our economy.
In general and in the whole, none of the main problems with our economy has jackshit to do
with President Biden. But the average American can't see past the tip of his or her nose and
in their self-centered ignorance blame Joe.
Joe didn't manufacture the Covid-19 crisis.
Joe didn't plot the overthrow of the nation.
Joe voted for the ban on assault rifles that Bush II let expire.
Joe doesn't hang out with mobsters or hookers or pedophiles like Epstein.
Instead, Joe has had a long list of positive achievements that seem to be overlooked during the
descent of his dumb American poll numbers.
Alas and sigh....

The public is dumb. The media is negative. The polls are rigged.

By now, these should be given. We can't change people's essential nature, or control the practices of the media. Our strategists should have long ago worked out some way of dealing with these issues. Tossing our hands up, complaining about the unfairness of it all doesn't accomplish anything.

Something Republicans have exploited in the past is planting bombs for the incoming Democrats so that when feces hit the fan, the Democrat is left holding the bag.

They rack up deficits, then blame Democrats for "out of control" spending. They piss off our international allies, then blame Democrats for our loss of international stature. They fight against gun control, then blame Democrats for the escalations in violent crime. They fight against every mitigation in the Covid crisis, then blame Democrats for not eradicating the disease.

In early 1983 Reagan was at 35%-- so it's just the way public perception works. The good news is that improvement will get help his ratings a lot , especially if Joe takes credit by touting an economic miracle.

Tue Jul 19, 2022, 01:43 PM

It was due to aggressive Fed action by Paul Volcker, who tightened the money supply and raised the prime rate to unheard of levels. Volcker was appointed by Carter in 1979, with Carter full well knowing that Volcker's hawkish policy would hurt his reelection chances. It took 4 years for Volcker's tactics to work and though stagflation was ended, it required a recession to get there.

So the public was ignorant then and is ignorant now of how the economy works-- makes it difficult for politicians to be elected on the basis of competence.

"You're all dumb ignoramuses! Now keep your pie holes shut and go and vote for us."

Someone should have thought of this strategy before. It's certainly more time-efficient than actually educating people about your policies and defending them through vigorous debate, no matter what obstacles the media and your political opposition throw in front of you.

But I am dumbstruck that a man, Biden, who won over 50% of the popular vote in 2020, has lost
so many of those voters approval over issues that he has no control over. Those people I consider
ignorant. Can they be educated? Perhaps.
