GIULIANI did not appear at a "show cause" hearing to challenge his subpoena earlier this month, so the justice entered an order against him, requiring him to appear for testimony in the Fulton County case. https://politico.com/f/?id=00000182-1c14-d60a-a1fe-5cbca4e10000

(82,849 posts)I don't think the Bannon Defense ("Oh, I thought those subpoena deadlines were negotiable, so I told the issuer to go fly a kite" is going to help here.

(12,437 posts)How and why did the NY Supreme Court become involved with this case?

(7,285 posts)I'm not sure why I had done a double take on the court issuing that order, guess I'm generally used to seeing court orders from a court in the district in question.

(8,283 posts)I'm just going off of the headline. Rudy Giuliani doesn't live or work (or anything) in Georgia. However, once they have obtained the court order in Georgia, they can ask a NY court (where Rudy Giuliani lives) to enforce it.

(95,255 posts)What New York calls 'supreme court' is a district court elsewhere. The highest New York tribunal does business as the Court of Appeals.
In It to Win It
(8,283 posts)All trial courts aren't district courts. In my state, the lowest level court -the trial court- is the circuit court, and the appeals court is the district court.

(8,283 posts)The prosecutor's office in Georgia may have obtained an order for Rudy Giuliani to appear. The problem is that Rudy Giuliani doesn't live in Georgia, he lives in NY. Therefore, the Georgia prosecutor takes their 'order to appear' to a New York court where Rudy Giuliani lives and asks a judge to order Rudy to comply.

(22,048 posts)I mean, he keeps making such foolish and elementary mistakes that one wonders if he has two functioning brain cells in his skull.
He has insulted judges, prosecutors and many others in his fools errand. He has ignored court orders. He has made a fool of himself and admitted that he doesnt have evidence of voter fraud.
Has he lost his mind? Seriously.
