Hear me out...fetal personhood

So, if they want to say a fetus is a person:

1. Could you kill it in self-defense?
2. If the mother died could the fetus be charged with killing the mother?
3. During the census do pregnant people count as 2?
4. Can movie theaters make you buy 2 tickets?
5. Does calculation for legal drinking age start at conception?
6. Do you get to claim the fetus as a dependent for taxes? How about for welfare purposes?
7. If you conceive on US soil does that make the baby a US citizen thus making deportation of said fetus against the law?
8. HOV lanes?

If a fetus were a person it could be blown out of the airlock as an unticketed passenger. Hugin Jul 2022 #13
We cannot presume to know the anxieties of the fetus until we interview enough of them. Hermit-The-Prog Jul 2022 #14
Personally, I think a lot of people achieve personhood until they're thirty-two. planetc Jul 2022 #15

told me I was wrong, it was Virginia. Oh well. Wherever it was, I don't think she should be able to claim that.

You only give them support for their false premise, and they cling to it even harder.

Read the Georgia statute the 11th Circuit just declared constitutional. It is a sweeping elevation of fetuses to the status of “natural person.” 1/ https://legis.ga.gov/api/legislation/document/20192020/187013

The Georgia law makes any abortion presumptively a homicide, creates a tort action for wrongful death whenever abortion is performed when there is a grouping of fetal cells that are initiating some electrical activity (referred to in statute as a heartbeat”.) 2/

The Georgia law requires child support to be paid to a fetus - though the amount is carefully limited so as not require too much financial obligation to the person hosting the fetus. 3/

These people, and courts, accept electrical impulses from a clump of cells as being a "heartbeat".
Ridiculing these insane beliefs is just that...ridiculing.

Legislatures pass stupid laws all the time. Courts make bad decisions all the time. We have to hold our ground for truth in the court of public opinion.

But by playing the "what can we do with the fetal personhood" game, it inadvertently adds credence to the fetal personhood premise.

A stow away. Walk the plank. Law of the high seas.

I don’t think they want to go against international law.
