When there is no future, the past is not a guide.

I recently heard an analysis of Republicans like Graham and McConnell that pointed to statements in which they claimed not to be worried about the judgement of future generations. Their future reputation played no role in their political calculus. The analysis simply made that point.

But it might be useful to ask why.

Why do politicians no longer predicate their actions on either their future reputation or the future of the nation? In the past, this was always central to their actions. But the past is no longer a guide.

It is because they all know, albeit subconsciously, that there will be no future. That the policies they have enacted due to greed, the lust for power, and twisted ideologies, have resulted in global warming which has doomed our species.

This subconscious awareness also explains their insanity, following a deranged leader, attacking their own institutions, the support of personalities, especially news personalities like those on Fox News and News Max, and political opportunists.

The wheels have come off the rails, and the cart is headed toward the cliff . . .

Have a nice weekend.

The 21st century has manifested those who saw the movie in the past and now identify themselves in the rerun of that weirdly wrong heroine worship of Thelma and Louise.

In murder suicide stories, the dead seem to out number the suicides.
America has become the soon to be seen scene of a mass suicidal murder of morals, minds, families, friends, and all reasonable alternatives to conservative nihilism.

In the face of this only values like those Camus realized in The Plague (love, friendship and an appreciation for the present, including art, food, wine) have any sustaining value.

That's the only light I can see this morning.

(Capitalism is the world's longest running snuff flick.)
