Took a Nice Bicycle Ride Today,

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Spazito (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Toby rails to trails is a shaded, flat trail that follows Toby Creek between 2 small towns. The trail is 18 miles long. Not enough rain for the creek to have canoers. Getting back to nature resets the psyche. I saw birds, chipmunks, a fawn almost jumped over my bike, a dozen turkeys, 4 or 5 fellow bikers, a jogger, a dog walker, and a fisherman.

7 miles up the trail is the Swinging bridge that spans Toby creek. Huge cables span 100 feet across the creek with cables for hand rails and boards to walk on.

I just went as far as the swinging bridge today, biked about 14 miles. Nature is beautiful, and I am grateful that I can still get out and bike the trail, I turn 75 next week. Maybe I will start taking it easy on Merrick Garland, he has a momentous decision to make.

Oh and I still play golf from the back tees but my 89 year old golf buddy beat me Friday. It is quite a feat to be able to shoot your age in golf, he shot 86. He is going to let me move up to the senior tees next year when I turn 76.

We got through around 9A before the temperature started to really climb, currently 98, probably be 100+ soon.

I'm 72 and plan to keep moving.

Right behind you. I’ll be 72 in November. Been sort of waylaid since January because of breast cancer. Luckily caught in time before it had a chance to spread. It cost me one of the girls, though, but I’m undergoing breast reconstruction now. That said, I still cleaned the whole house and managed to find time to yell at the TV when Trump came on. Looking forward to getting back to my exercise routine.

Ain’t nothin gonna breaka my stride….

Several of our more intrepid riders have absconded to cool but hill Vermont. One woman is also a breast cancer survivor. We describe this 73 year old as a force of nature.

2 garage sales, an estate sale and our local library.

This is a video I made earlier this year of basically the same trip.

Watching for days when it won't go over 80 degrees by 9 am. Maybe Tuesday.

Ride on!

Our early mornings are not bad, but the temperature at 4:30 is 103F. Texas is a supercharged oven.

What did that General say, "If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell."

Tried a regular bike but had a few episodes that didn't go well. We wound a barley used tricycle. It's great. Wouldn't work well with hills but here it is super. Now I have to ride very first thing in the morning. Building up to later this fall and winter and really looking forward to exploring the Rail Trails. Yeah, Florida is sort of really messed up but I've connected with more wildlife (no, not just alligators) and active living than I had up north. I love biking!!

Host consensus is this OP doesn't meet the criteria in the SOP for this forum:

Discuss politics, issues, and current events.

This would be fine in the Lounge.
