The Democratic party has been and always will be a big tent

We are not forced to rely on anyone for our messaging. We embrace all that support our message.

Why is that hard for some people to understand? Now if you want strict adherence to who can be in your club, just look at the republican party.

P.S. I can't believe I had to write this. Now back to embracing all with our message.

We embrace all that support our message

That could just as easily come from someone who opposes a "big tent". Support our message and you're welcome.

The question is - If someone supports 70% of our message and 30% of the republicans' message... which party should they vote for? And will they feel welcome there?

Once again, "We embrace all that support our message". What would be the opposite of that?

That's the point of the reply. That could easily be read as "we embrace only those who support all of our message"

Agree with us on everything except abortion? You're out.

That's certainly been made explicit by many here on DU.

don’t try and get us to abandon things like choice or marriage equality, I say the more the merrier.
