So my GF and her son are on a long planned trip to NYC

she had promised him this since he was a little kid, now he's 22. She had suffered from depression for years, finally got on the right meds and felt so much better she's able to finally fulfill her promise.

Been there since last Thursday, having a great time until today, when she passes out while standing in line for some attraction. Ends up in the ER, where they run a bunch of tests and don't find anything wrong. Probable diagnosis, dehydration and pushing too hard. EXCEPT she also tested positive for COVID. She's asymptomatic, vaxxed and boosted and now they have to figure out what to tell their Airbnb host. What they do next depends on his response. If he kicks them out I guess they'll be trying to find a place to stay that takes COVID patients.

it's just spreading all over again. There is a mask mandate for subways and buses, but a 3rd of the people can't be bothered. I just wish people would act responsibly so we could get a break for a while.

Hopefully, the AirBNB will let them stay. If not, their best bet might be to look for a motel or hotel with separate entrances for each room. I don't think there are any of them in Manhattan, but New Jersey is right there and the other boroughs of NYC too. The temperatures have been really hot in NYC this week so it's not surprising that she got dehydrated. I hope she is feeling better.

Covid aren’t there for the Covid. Like your GF they’re there for something else and routine testing uncovered the Covid.

I live in NYC. Perhaps entirely unconnected, but we've had a heatwave (mid-90s and humid) every day for the last week or so.
