Tell me again how the DOJ has been doing nothing

Justice Department investigators in April received phone records of key officials and aides in the Trump administration, including his former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, according to two people familiar with the matter. That effort is another indicator of how expansive the Jan. 6 probe had become, well before the high-profile, televised House hearings in June and July on the subject

IN APRIL.

but then - part of the choir (at least on this issue).

Must also say - most disappointed in the political leaders that have been nattering on with the 'lack of action' narrative. I'm seasoned enough to recognize that some of this is merely flag waving and gamesmanship (i.e., politics) - but it does all come at some cost to the body politic and our system. (and, I might add, a system that's taken quite a battering under previous watch)

George Floyd was murdered two years ago and only now the cops who stood by watching it happen are getting sentenced for violating his civil rights.

What gave you the idea that justice is quick? It is not, especially in a case such as this, with numerous crimes and conspiracies and thousands of players. Not to mention that the DOJ absolutely has to get this 100% right because our democracy depends on justice here.

Whoo. That's a really tall order.

I hate to break it to you, but it's still going to be a long time until we see actual justice. For now, I am glad to know for sure they are investigating. I figured they were, but none of us had the proof until now. Now I can rest a lot easier, knowing that justice is indeed coming. Oh yes, it is coming.

This is a strategically-dropped bomb.

They really couldn't keep the depth of their investigation a secret much longer, given that Pence's chief of staff and other top WH people are being interviewed. It was obvious as soon as that became known that they were already close to the top. Given that they got the phone records in April, it appears the DOJ had been quietly investigating all along.

But people demand to see proof, and that isn't the way these things go. Not in the early stages. If the DOJ made all these public announcements all along, the J6C might not have had cooperation from a lot of the thousands of people they interviewed. Or the DOJ, for that matter. That's a damn good reason to keep quiet.

And it shows you how long such a huge and complicated investigation such as this takes.

I was a naysayer not too long ago, impatient to know that they were even going to bother to go after the orange fuck. My mind started changing when I saw signs that the DOJ was moving in the direction of justice. My confidence in them grew.

I never once doubted that AG Garland was going to do his job in a way that would nail the Mango Menace and his criminal cabal, despite the doom and gloom crowd here.

The J6 committee members who complained that DoJ/Garland wasn't doing anything were obviously wrong.

It seems apparent the reason Meadows wasn't charged with criminal contempt of Congress is because DoJ is investigating his role. He could be some or all of witness, subject, target. Jmo, but the pressure will be building on Meadows to flip.

The information that DoJ got Meadows' phone records back in April shows just how far along the investigation was by then. My guess is DoJ is closer to the end than the beginning as they are now bringing very senior Trump WH lawyers and advisors before the GJ. Agree that while the GJ cannot disclose anything and DoJ won't, witnesses can and do talk about their experience. With high profile witnesses like Short and Jacobs and the media camped out at the courthouse watching who comes and goes, information was going to get out. Garland was smart to get in front of it with the Holt interview.

If they really have been working their way up from the bottom, then you're probably right about them being closer to the end than the beginning.

At some point stuff was going to get out to the public. The fact that it took this long really is pretty amazing.
