The House is stopping the assault weapon bill for the session

Looks like they plan on coming back to it next session.

I wonder if its due to all the cases against AW's that are working thru the courts now, or want to save it so its closer to the November vote. Lots of reasons to sit on it for a little, I dont know if they are good reasons.

I appreciate the effort, but it's a waste of time, and the Senate cloture vote would not even be remotely close.

after the mid terms would be much better.

This is exactly the kind of fodder that the repukes love to bash Dems over the head with, especially, as you say, it stands no chance in the Senate.

Some moderate Dem's were voting no on it, some moderate Repubs would vote for it, but there was a question if there were enough to offset the defecting votes. It also has pretty much no chance in the Senate, and in light of Bruen, likely no chance in the courts at this point.
