General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDo you think Sinema will support the new Manchin-Schumer bill?
Here are the details of the bill as reported by NBC News' Benjy Sarlin:
Revenue: $739b
-15% domestic corp min tax
-IRS enforcement
-Prescription drug deal
-Carried interest cap
Spending: $433b
-$369b on climate/energy
-ACA extension for 3 years
In the past, Sinema has opposed tax changes like the corporate minimum tax and limitations/elimination of the carried interest loophole. Will she change her mind this time and support this bill since Manchin is on board?

(15,952 posts)Nobody should have to pay through taxes IRS reenforcement. Seriously everyone under 50K zero taxes, 51-150 5 percent. 151-400 20 percent. The rest 40 percent. How damn hard is that?

(13,431 posts)It reduces the deficit and it includes two big items he has been receiving a lot of pressure from Dems to support (energy changes and drug pricing). There is a few hundred million in deficit reduction which has been a key talking point from him lately. Plus, the overall bill is not huge. I'm as critical of Manchin as everyone else but I honestly believe he would vote for this bill. Of course, there is always a chance is pulling another Lucy with the football trick on Charlie Brown. I simply think those chances are low this time.

(11,068 posts)He's fucked Biden and Schumer when they announced deals, but I don't think he's backed out on one he announced. Same with Sinema (although she hasn't said anything yet on this I don't think). But if she announces it, she votes for it.

(1,324 posts)It wouldnt surprise me if Manchin only agreed to support the bill because he knows that Sinema wont.

(7,637 posts)so they will negotiate and remove that. Manchin will then say it does not bring enough revenue and back out.
