Good-The hell with those "Christian" missionaries

On Friday, July 22, the Oglala Sioux Tribe and its President, Kevin Killer, issued a statement demanding that the Jesus is King Mission leave the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation after pamphlets were distributed that promoted that Jesus, not Tunkasila (a Lakota word for Creator), is the true god.
This week the Jesus is King Missionary was found distributing material that literally demonizes the Lakota Culture and Faith, said the Oglala Sioux Tribe in a statement. This is unacceptable and completely disrespectful. It is the view of the President and Council that these pamphlets seek to promote Hate instead of Peace. Hate has no place on Oglala land.
The pamphlets also had statements asking what late American Indian Movement (AIM) activists and leaders Russell Means, Crow Dog, and Black Elk believed in. What did Russell Means, Crow Dog, and Black Elk believe? the pamphlet read.

(13,474 posts)In Africa, they are mainly responsible for hatred and persecution of LGBTQ. They are also responsible for US policies every time we have a Republican president denying badly needed aid to any clinics that provide birth control and abortions.
Years ago, I read a novel by Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible, about a Baptist preacher who moves his family to the Congo to spread Christianity to its unenlightened, totally ignoring of course the fact that the Congolese already have their own religious traditions. Excellent book that shows the hypocrisy of such missionaries who claim to be saving souls but instead destroy native traditions and societies.

I grew up among them. Everything bad is a punishment from god, even if it was done to you by a person. Everything good is a gift from god...and ultimately, religion is little more than a bludgeon for many people who just want people they dislike to be hurt.
I have little patience with this kind of thing and it is getting worse the older I get!

(12,663 posts)But last I looked, the Lakota Culture and Faith wasn't trying to force their religious theories onto women's uteruses. The Oglala Sioux Tribe wasn't forcing their religion into our laws.
But Christians are. The Lakota faith is already ahead of the game.
