This week @JesseBWatters and @TuckerCarlson lied and said I traveled to Paris and stayed at the Ritz with my staff. They showed pictures of two staff members who they claimed were on the trip. 1/3
I have ( not* ) been to France since 2015. The staffers whose pictures they showed did not travel to France. I zoomed into a an event with Democrats living abroad. Our campaign covered the costs. But Tucker & Jesse dont care. And then the death threats flood in. 2/3
To protect me/family/staff against Fox News inspired death threats we hire security. Then Fox News attacks us for spending money on security measures & death threats pour in. Repeat. This is intended to bring harm to me/family/staff. Or see me silenced. Thats not happening.END🧵
*I have not been to France since 2015.
Why is that nazi network allowed to continue its deliberate destruction of the country from the inside??

it's fucking idiotic that dems allow more than 87 universities support 260+ x-limbaugh stations that attack democrats all day, take free potshots at them all day - without complaint. really fucking stupid.
limbaugh spent 1/2 hour creating a ridiculous premise merely to repeat variations on the phrase "take out AOC"
just like in sept 2008 he did the same to be able to say to 15M that "obama's head needs to roll"

Sounds like a brutalizing batterer, fucking with his victim with psychotic mind-games and blaming her for making him do this.

(80,419 posts)Yes it is a common trait of ruthless sociopaths. It is always the victim's fault.
And the police are always out to get them.

So that is now the standard thought process.
Decades of ruthless propaganda demonizing the Dems has paid off.
It is right out of the KGB/CIA handbook. Blame the victims.
Also typical of sociopaths.

(2,700 posts)"alright you chickenshit MFer - you come here and say that to my face - you don't have the guts - you're just a coward hiding behind a keyboard. What ever threats you have you won't do face to face or in the light of day - you want to hide what you do. Tell you what - you be a real man and step out - tell me who you are and where you live. Then you come over and we'll have a little chat about how real men behave. And remember that when you step on my property, you are there at my permission. And if any of your pissy little bunch gets near my family, you can best believe I will hunt you down. "

(78,861 posts)The correct response is for law enforcement to arrest, try, convict and incarcerate those making the threats.
I do agree that one has the right and responsibility to protect one's home and family. But that ability is never enhanced by announcing that one is prepared to do so, and challenging the unhinged to a contest.
soldierant
(9,304 posts)But you do realize that there are now so many people maling these threats that if law enforcement were to be able to arrest (charge, convict, incarcerate) all of them that, just as one example, 100% of homicides would be unsolved (as opposed to the current roughly 90%) - and there would certainly be no capability to investigate anything else at all.
Of course, that may be part of their strategy.
H2O Man
(78,861 posts)While on a much, much smaller level, I have had threats from idiots before. Often from people in public places, a few on the telephone. One time someone stuck a dead woodchuck in my mailbox, along with some white nationalist papers. Gracious!
I was never really concerned about the loud-mouthes, though they were annoying. About the same as house flies in the late summer. I did have a guy hit me with a board decades ago, while I was engaged in a rally/march for Native American rights. Luckily, the board struck my head, causing it to break, and I still have the broken piece here .... still with the American flag crepe paper the guy decorated it with.
The mail box bit did catch my attention. But I was always more concerned with those who were smart enough to not verbalize or phone a threat. Of course, as Malcolm X noted, in the jungle there are hunters, and those that hunt the hunters.
MuseRider
(35,166 posts)but it would be highly recommended that you not go all chesty with these people who would think nothing of taking you down. We need him and we do not need our leaders to inflame the crazies. They look like the bigger of the two (for most of us) by just letting them go with a response like he makes. It might make some of them more angry but who knows? I am actually pretty sure that we all know he might love to do that but has to keep his cool. There are too many fish to fry right now. Corral them then we can pick them off. These threats are all recorded for later.

(78,861 posts)Back in the days of the Obama presidency, some republicans thought they could exploit the "tea party." They did not anticipate that they would soon lose control, and the rabid right-wing would take over the republican party ..... as it has.
Thus, we must add one emotion to "disgusted, angry and sad" -- scared shitless. The current republican office-holders who recognize how out of control their party is are too afraid to speak out, for they have seen that if they do so, they put themselves at risk of more than a primary challenge.

(24,901 posts)In a lawsuit years ago, Fox news claimed that they were entertainment.
If they were a legitimate news operation, they would have called representative Swalwells office to confirm that he had traveled overseas. One phone call. Thats all it would take to ascertain if he was in France or not.
But since theyre not a news organization, they couldnt be bothered to make that phone call.
Fox News is a hack organization. They are un-American and simply a profit motivated outfit.

(2,700 posts)is to track down, doxx and expose the people making the threats. Send copies of the threats to their employers with a note that says "this is the kind of person you have working for you? I will not buy from you again."
Make a web site to list them all - that means their threats will go down in history forever and will come up if a websearch is done in the person's name.
Stop letting them hide behind anonymity

(245 posts)I am so sick and tired of these right-wing shills demonizing Democrats and anyone who disagrees with them! They lie, tell half-truths and exaggerate to work their base into a frenzy and wonder out loud "When is someone going to do something about these people?" They know damn well this encourages the nutjobs in their audience to act out violently against their perceived "enemies". People are going to get killed because of their irresponsible, hateful rhetoric! But they don't care! They just love the ratings!

The people engaging in these death threats are probably relatively small in number. Significant number are probably outsourced to overseas bad actors who are being paid to disrupt American civic life.
The ones from here in the US are probably clustered out of just a few cells, each spamming out death threats on the regular, and it all likelihood connected to online extremist groups.
All these waves of death threats, which create a sense of an entire nation is seething beneath the surface and ready to erupt in violence, are probably being issued by no more than a couple thousand individuals here and maybe a few hundred around Eurasia.
