Trump inner circle members voluntarily testifying because they see the Jan. 6 investigation is 'gett

'getting somewhere'

Appearing on MSNBC's "The Katie Phang Show," former prosecutor Cynthia Alksne was asked why investigators looking into the Jan. 6 insurrection are suddenly being deluged with former senior Donald Trump administration more than willing to talk about the former president.

Reacting to reports that former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin have all appeared with having been subpoenaed, the legal analyst said the former members of Trump's inner circle see the writing on the wall after weeks of the House select committee hearings.

"What does it tell you that we are now seeing Trump allies and former cabinet members, like Steve Mnuchin and Mike Pompeo, reportedly engaging with the Jan. 6 committee without even having to be served with a subpoena?" host Phang prompted.

"It tells me that the Jan.6 committee is getting somewhere," Alksne replied. "They see it, they know it, and so they would rather go voluntarily than be subpoenaed. Obviously, the committee has some momentum, what's fascinating about what is also coming up this week is there is a whole collection of emails and lawyers who I cannot wait to hear from, who were hiding what they were doing from the White House lawyers."

They will throw him under the bus rather than protect him and become the fall guys for him.

Just enough to cover their own asses, but not enough to do any damage to Teflon Don? I'll bet they're still protecting that hunk of shit, to the extent that they can.

the mountain of facts obtained about trump so far.

What really drives their sudden cooperation, imo, is that they're afraid of being charged with aiding and abetting trump's criminality, or as part of a side RICO case, and so this saves them legal expenses and their future employability.

The Repubs loved everything Trump was accomplishing, but they loathed his way of doing it. They hated his constant self aggrandizement and his constantly revealing all that he was doing. They would much prefer a person who would do all their work from the shadows.

The Republicans wanted to get rid of him, but at the same time, if they took any actions they feared they would turn his 70 million voters against their party.

Soooooo they created a situation where the Dems would go after Trump and they would just sit back and let the Dems do the dirty work........Then, maybe the 70 million voters would slowly shift their votes to another Republican, who would carry on with their Fascist ideas of the future US government, but wasn't the bully, bragging asshole that Trump had become.

Enter DeSantis........

I saw a clip from the J6 committee of some member who was in Trump's upper menagerie, testifying against Trump and being truthful about all the corrupt things they had seen done. Of course they were under oath and wanted to try and avoid it coming back on them legally for participating in the corruption. The very next day, I watched that same witness on Fox News, totally talking up Trump and the Republican party, and lying about all he had said the previous day in testimony.

I thought.....cute. None of the 70 million were watching the committee hearings to see what he REALLY said, so he was safe from any and all of the Trumphumpers seeing THAT performance of his UNDER OATH. The Trumphumpers were all tuned into Fox the next day, to hear him telling Fox all the things the Fox viewers would see and believe about his testimony, which was 180 degrees from the previous day.....LOLOLOL

The Repubs are benefitting from the 70 million voters thinking that the committee hearings are being done by the Dems, and they fact that the Republicans all appear to be letting the Dems destroy Trump, and not doing any of the dirty work????????

Once Trump goes down, they will launch a ton of backing for DeSantis, and the Republican Party will have SUCCESSFULLY HIJACKED the 70 Million Trumphumper votes with out doing any of the dirty work

Also, I can hardly wait for their common trick of releasing at the last minute their notorious "October Surprise". You can bet it is gonna be a doozy this time around for the 2022 election in three months......

If Pence, Pelosi, and Grassley could have been killed or disabled during the insurrection, who would have become next in line to the presidency during martial law that they were talking about?

Pompeo.

And he had been moved from Defense to Secretary of State in order to position him there.

That's not a good sign for Trump boy. Will prison guards take the place of secret service protection for Donald Trump?
