Undercover agents posed as minors or sex buyers on social media and made arrangements to meet the adults. When the adults arrived, they were arrested, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
One of the men, Jason James Taylor, is a pastor at Calvary Chapel Solid Rock in New Richmond, Wis. Taylor, 47, of New Richmond, was arrested and booked into Washington County jail on suspicion of felony solicitation of a minor for prostitution.
The Washington County criminal complaint gave the following details:
During the sting operation, an undercover officer posted an ad with a phone number on a known commercial sex website with a decoy picture of a girl appearing to be under 18. The undercover officer then contacted the people who called the number in the ad.
Authorities say Taylor was one of those who called. ...

A pastor killed in Albuquerque belonged to an association of evangelical churches that critics allege stands behind its pastors when theyre accused of abuse.

Greg Griego, who was slaughtered along with his wife and children, allegedly by his 15-year-old son, Nehemiah, last week near Albuquerque, was a beloved minister. A born-again gang member, he seemed to serve anywhere he would be had: as a minister in Albuquerques fire department, at a detention center, and in the prison ministry at Calvary Albuquerque, a megachurch affiliated with the Calvary Chapel network of more than a thousand similar churches. After allegedly committing the horrific crimes, Nehemiah reportedly spent hours hanging around Calvary Albuquerque, telling church members his family died in a car accident.
The Albuquerque massacre wasnt the first time lately that a Calvary Chapelaffiliated church found itself part of a grim news cycle. Calvary is one of several large evangelical denominations beginning to draw national attention as lawsuits pile up over abuses allegedly covered up by pastors and church leaders. Over the past decades, Calvary has been plagued with accusations ranging from unaccountable leadership to covered-up sexual abuse, raising questions similar to those faced by Roman Catholic hierarchy about what kind of role the churchs top leaders were playing behind the scenes.
Unlike the centralized, bureaucratic Catholic Church, some upstart evangelical denominations have less explicit authority structures that remain opaque even to members. Because networks of churches like Calvary Chapel and Sovereign Grace often have an ostensibly informal relationship with the flagship church, denominational leaders can find themselves in the difficult position of having to take responsibility for the abuses of an affiliate churchor, more often, refusing to do so.
This tension is especially acute in Calvary Chapel, where pastors are given a great deal of individual authority, but it seems have sometimes found senior Calvary leaders asserting their prerogative in doctrinal, financial, or administrative matters. Turned off by the micromanaging he saw in other evangelical denominations, Chuck Smith, Calvary's founder, developed a church model based on near-absolute sovereignty of the senior pastor. I feel my primary responsibility is to the Lord, he explained to Christianity Today in 2007. And one day I'm going to answer to him, not to a board of elders. Though Smith described church budgeting as a collective process to Christianity Today, Calvary Chapel pastors have little requirement to disclose church finances to members or even other leaders, according to other Calvary members who say they were given the cold shoulder when they asked for more information.
No pun intended.

(20,591 posts)is like a mini-Trump enterprise. No taxes, no accountability, and the guy at the tops authority is never questioned.
I'm really surprised Trump never tried to start a church, considering all of its advantages. He has the cult, but he hasn't quite got the IRS completely out of the picture. He keeps them pretty well baffled with all of his bullshit, but they're still looking at him.

I spent the summer living in a cabin at a state park with my mom, who was attending classes at a nearby college. I got to know some of the college-age park employees, and one evening a group of them invited me to go with them to a carnival in town. When a few of them picked me up and I got into the back seat of the car, I happened to sit beside a guy I didn't recognize. Almost immediately he tried to kiss me and feel me up. I pushed him away and said NO! but he kept grabbing at me, and my shirt got ripped. The driver stopped the car, and I jumped out and ran. My park friends jumped out and stayed with me while the driver took the creep home...I guess. I never asked what happened to him.
I didn't hear about him again until 55+ years later, when my husband and I moved to the college town to be near his ailing mother. The creep was then the pastor of the Episcopal Church.
I didn't tell anyone about him. He's dead now, and I am sure he's in heaven.

(20,591 posts)at any age, but at 15 it really had to scar you. That's enough to put you off men forever.
And isn't it nice your attacker became a minister? All you have to do is look up to the sky and apologize, and really, really mean it, and all is forgiven.
And for all his supposed piety, I'm sure he never gave you a second thought. That's a real "man of god" for you. 😠

(13,018 posts)There was one site, one list, of all the religious and GQP sex abusers, rapists, child molesters and traffickers that could be blasted Main Stream, and hacked into Fux, OAN and News max broadcast. Force Keli MAGAninny to read it on air with her crucifix BLING, Flanked by Huckabee and MTG. A list that could be recited to MYG, Bang Bang Barbie, Gaetz, Gym and every damn GQPer that starts with the projecting and Jesus bullshit. But Im realistic. That list would be too long to print or recite. Seems every damn week new trumping preachers or politician are being charged. Damn you Hillary for starting all this. (363 posts)She was 12-years-old at the time. We went to a mainstream church (Presbyterian). We were active in the church. She attended youth group every week. She also babysat the minister's children. She came home a couple times after babysitting and said the kids wanted to touch her and also showed her where their dad stored his condoms, etc. I remember feeling that that was weird, but his kids were little, and I mainly thought it was their curiosity. After we had moved from this small community in Washington State, we heard that a year later the "popular" minister also was transferred. During that year, his 8th grade son, who was involved in the middle school yearbook, had inserted pornographic pictures in the yearbook, and the yearbooks all had to be redone. I have no idea if that was connected to the minister's transfer out of the community
We did not find out until our daughter was 24 and married that she had been molested. We knew she had issues and had put her in counseling in high school, but she never told her counselor about it. Our daughter said the minister would pull her out of the youth group meeting and take her into a private area behind the pipe organ. She also said he and his assistant in the group would ask them about their sexual encounters such as kissing. Remember these were 11 and 12-year-olds. I also took her to the local sexual assault center for counseling once I found out. I wanted to press charges, if possible, but my daughter said she could not deal with a lawsuit as she was struggling with mental health issues by then. I followed the minister's whereabouts for years just so I could be ready if my daughter wanted to go after him. I actually don't know if she still could sue him.
My daughter has had a tumultuous life, and I believe her molestation was the main contributor to her mental health issues. Right now she is in the hospital having tried to end her life a few days ago. It is a constant struggle to keep her alive. She has lived with us for the past year an a half. Today we will visit her once again in the ICU.
I hope this minister is severely punished and spends the rest of his life in prison.

(13,018 posts)I am sick from reading this post. I have one child, a daughter, raised her alone since age 10, now 32 after losing mom to cancer. I would be in prison most likely from the rage. I am so so sorry what hell those freaks brought to you and her. Where was that precious God that was promised to look over his followers and protect them from evil? All the yea though I walk through that Evil valley shit, without fear? Works in strange ways
.thats always their reason for the no shows.
There is no justice fro what your family has been put through.💔💔💔💔💔💔❤️🩹❤️🩹.

(363 posts)My daughter does not call herself a Christian after all that, and we have not been to church in years. There really is no justice, and most people would just support the minister. My daughter came to live with us after fleeing from a violent husband last year. Just the night she fled from him was horrifying. She called us for help even though we live in Oregon and we could hear the violence. We told our son-in-law to not hang up her phone. When the line went dead, we called 911. She fled in the dark wearing what she could put on rapidly and found a business that was still open and they protected her until the police could get there. We drove up the next day and brought her back home with us. She has not been able to handle life and has been in and out of hospitals/mental health facilities maybe 15 times since February of 2021. It breaks my heart, and it is so exhausting. She is a well-educated, bright woman, but life has beaten her down.

(13,018 posts)Sat or do something to take away just a little pain from you all. Daughters are so special, and none deserve even a little of that. And it seems we are headed for just as bad, and acceptable behavior to so many daughters because of Christian (???) courts. Just know there is one daughters daddy out here wishing and hoping your lives can be whole again. Peace to you.

(363 posts)It is not easy, and I don't know what her future will bring. I spoke to her this morning, so they have moved her from ICU, but the room does not have a TV because it has a cord, and when you are suicidal you can't have anything including clothes that can be used to hurt yourself. She wants books to read, so we are heading off to the library before going to the hospital. Her life is very sad right now.
