CNN: All eyes turn to Sinema as Democrats face a week that could transform Biden's presidency

Huge, huge, huge week upcoming for the President and all of us! It will be truly momentous. This is a wonderful piece. It's also thrilling that we could be about to put the pain of the last year behind us and finally put the wind at our backs!

https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/01/politics/kyrsten-sinema-democrats-big-week-for-biden-presidency/index.html

(CNN)Democrats this week have the chance to validate their monopoly on political power in Washington, create a legacy of true significance for President Joe Biden and even boost their hopes in daunting midterm elections in three months.

But first they must push a back-from-the-dead climate and health care initiative through the Senate using their tiny majority, notably by locking in the crucial vote of moderate Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who has yet to sign off on a bill that may not save Democrats in November but may at least give them a big new win to run on.

I'm done with her. Period. If I never heard her name again I'd be thrilled.

My only hope is she's voted into irrelevance this fall. Nuts and opportunist on our side have no place in this delicate moment in our history.

You can see her with a hands-free crutch around the same time here: https://rollcall.com/2021/07/28/sinema-deals-blow-to-democrats-budget-reconciliation-target/

So I've always thought that she'd lost her balance and the camera caught her gripping onto his arm to keep from falling.

I'll try to keep a more open mind. I was turned off by the thumbs-down curtsy. I could have understood the vote, much as I disagreed with it, but the curtsy seemed mockingly defiant and disrespectful towards her colleagues who had worked so hard to pass something meaningful.

*Manchin suggested on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that he hadn’t spoken to Sinema about the package since he agreed on it with Schumer. But he paid tribute to his Arizona colleague and her previous work on reducing prescription drugs prices – a goal that is included in the new draft law.

“When she looks at the bill and sees the whole spectrum of what we’re doing and all of the energy we’re bringing in – all of the reduction of prices and fighting inflation by bringing prices down, by having more energy – hopefully, she will be positive about it,” Manchin said. “But she will make her decision. And I respect that.”>>>

It's not about her constituents. It's not about the country. It's about her bank accounts.

She just has to ride out two more years of hate, which she seems quite comfortable at doing.

I watched Sinema on the Senate floor as she had conversations with all those Republicans. As soon as she finished she went on the Senate floor to announce the gun bill she supported. Portman joined. And Biden is getting his Republican votes thanks to that hippy you guys are making fun of!

I misjudged her at first, too. But she has backed every Biden bill. Standing on the outdoor podium when Biden signed he Infrastructure bill. Bot CNN and MSNBC need constant conflict. Manchin and Sinema are playing the press like a couple of pros.

I suggest all should cool the attacks and watch the SENATE on CSPAN,ignore the lying Press!

Manchin said on cable news she was the best negotiator.

The Media is the ones always ranting about her. I thought she same thing the Press keeps spewing until I decided to go to the source.

PRESIDENT Biden called Manchin to the WhoeHouse, next thing we knew Schumer and Manchin had a deal causing Mitch to come on the floor ranting. He was so angry he could barely spit out his lies. Cornyn came next.

Manchin is problematic too, so I'm not taking his praise of her as meaning a whole lot. As far as what she has done (or not done), there is a pretty well documented history last year of her spending most of her time negotiating in bad faith and pulling out of agreements, which have nearly doomed Biden and the Democrat's legislative agenda in the Senate for often vague, unconvincing reasons. Plus, she has been spending lots of time with Republicans. We may have to indulge her right now due to our fragile Senate majority, but I don't like her nor do I trust her.

GQP BS surrounding the debt and deficit lives rent-free in her head.

this bill pays for itself (Manchin insisted), and it's SMALL: $74b/year for 10 years. it's a bandaid on a sucking chest wound, of course, but she should be able to vote for it. even she knows the Dems need to deliver SOMETHING before the midterms.

get rid of her at your 1st opportunity, Arizona.
