I better not be nostalgic for TFG in a few years

Remember the nightmare that was W? Maybe it’s because I was an adolescent/teenager for most of his time in the White House, but those eight years seemed to drag on forever and ever, and it seemed like we’d be stuck in Iraq forever as I wondered how people could vote for such a dolt. I was ecstatic at his departure.

Then Sarah Palin happened, Rush, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, a bunch of complete nuts ran for Congress and I realized people were, indeed, dumber than Dubya.

When Pennsylvania was called for TFG in 2016, I’d gotten only one hour of sleep, was too horrified to go back to bed, was so distraught that I couldn’t fall back asleep. For four years, I’d found myself willing to beg W. on my hands knees to get rid of TFG. I was nostalgic for him because as awful as he was, America had fallen for a con man whose intellect and empathy and compassion were no existence. As awful as Bush was, I never felt he was openly malicious or mean spirited.

Now, millions want the wannabe dictator from Floridastan to replace President Biden. What’s so appealing about Fascism? Nazism? Here’s someone such an antithesis to the freedoms and Constitution they pretend to revere, and this is what happens when you choose emotion over logic.

Regarding Don’t Say Gay, should children be exposed to explicit sexual content? In my opinion, no. Should, however, kids be taught people are different and they should show respect and tolerance to all? Absolutely. There’s nothing wrong about telling kids gays exist without going in depth on what happens behind closed doors.

It’s the same thing with the school lunch debate or sex education - that parents should decide what kids eat, that parents should teach their kids about sex.

There’s only one problem with that - parents often don’t do their jobs as parents. Parents are neglectful, abusive, don’t do the things they should. The things kids learn aren’t confined to a textbook or curriculum alone, and just because parents fail their children, why should the system, our government, fail said children?

I will always resent what happened in 2016, even if I live to be 100 and there’s never another Republican in the White House in my lifetime again.

But knowing that we could be a few years away from DesantisStan and he could be even more dangerous than TFG is a scary thought. If it happens and it gets so bad that I beg for TFG, I learned that it could, indeed get worse than W. I’m aware now that it can get worse than TFG.

And thus, it shows the bottomless pit the other side has become, no low is too low.

They're only interested in policies and positions they're certain the evil liberals support

Then they oppose it all

If your whole platform is out of spite, it isn’t very strong. Furthermore, if you’re fine with the destruction of this country as long as we suffer, you’re no patriot.

President Biden is not perfect, haven’t been thrilled every single time. I’m not energized or excited by him, but I support him.

We can be frustrated at Manchin and Sinema, but think of what the alternatives are if it’s someone else.

Domestically, he knowingly downplayed a deadly pandemic that had cost untold lives and incited and inspired insurrection against democracy.

W was bad. He wasn’t shatter our core institutions bad.

Before him, at least most members were respectful of one another. The Newtster changed all that and each new session got worse & DT flat out blew it up! Now it's anything goes! Each candidate tries to outdo the last one.

I think DeSantis is trying to "out Trump Trump! I hate to see what a 2024 Campaign is going to be like. Hell, I'm 78, sof I may not even have to endure it's hatred.

The biggest problem is that no one seems to know how to fix the radical divide between the two Parties and return to some civility. God help us all!

evil that's only "better" for destroying fewer people.

We can avoid that simply by never forgetting the incredible cruelty of kidnapping thousands of children from their parents into warehouses, many far too young even to realize their parents still existed somewhere. Some of the children have not been reunited with their parents and will never be, and many have been gravely emotionally damaged. Some were lost and never found. Some died.

And America is still in the throes of an evil RW holocaust begun during the tRump administration. We should never forget the well over 1 million Americans who've already suffered and died dreadfully from disease deliberately spread by Republican leaders for political power and by their millions of followers out of political malice.

If they're in power again they could do it again, and the death toll from the next opportunity epidemic disease outbreak offers could dwarf what the word "holocaust" usually brings to mind. Will the standard containment procedures even be possible? Many places have passed laws making them illegal, and the first response of many without a bottom to hit will be to defiantly spread that one as before. Just a continuation of today's evil?

Btw, someone at a little party yesterday came out with that "I'm done with Covid" (protections) line. I was so glad that all the responses agreed that Covid isn't done with us and that we need to protect others. This gives some hope that societal and workplace pressure may work better and faster next time. Which could be right around the corner for all we know.

I have no interest in rehabilitating TFG, lousy leader, even worse human being. It just makes you wonder he was the precursor to.
