The message out of Kansas was loud and clear! Expect an unusually high turnout. EVERYONE I talk to on this issue conveys disgust at the lack of exceptions for rape or incest in our state!! I live in a red red state and they often mention the story about the 10 year old as an added wrong which should be corrected!
We have an opportunity to send a message in November! I can't wait!!

(85 posts)Recommend voting blue for the state legislators when you encounter an independent voter. That's the only way to ensure roe and any thing else that candidate deems important has a chance. Use the coattails from the Senate candidates to help negate the gerrymandering and help keep the House and maybe make a change in a few state legislatures. Giving a Democratic Governor a non veto proof gerrymandered Republican legislature negates the bastards. And maybe if Katie Hobbs coattails are long enough we can change at least one part of the legislature here in AZ.

(3,210 posts)voting on an issue such as in Kansas into voting for Democratic candidates in November!

(2,594 posts)Overturning abortion was their number-one, go-to tactic for rallying their "Christian" voting base. Now that they have overturned it, not only have they lost that particular arrow in their quiver, but they have fired up the Democratic and independent voting base.

(47,940 posts)The Court would have supported Dobbs bot would have appeared to leave Roe intact. Not good enough for Alito.

(5,043 posts)That is why we have the Extreme Court of the United States.
In 2000 Gore got more votes than GWB
GWB stole Ohio in 2004
Traitor Tot and Vlad "won" the Electoral in 2016 by 88K votes over three states
Hillary got more votes than Trump. Was that election stolen too?

(89,294 posts)We need SERIOUSLY to consider expanding the Court.
I'd say impeach and remove, but that's probably too unrealistic to hope for.
Unless there was a way to pick off one (or two) of 'em, professionally-speaking, of course?

(47,940 posts)I don't know where I'll be calling.
I do remember making calls regarding a municipal election in NC. Mayor, city council, that sort of thing. One woman asked if I knew the candidates stances on reproductive rights. She wanted to know that about her city council. I suggested she call their campaigns and ask. I thanked her for caring.
I wonder how many people will bring up Kansas.

(11,767 posts)The one thing you can ALWAYS count on from Republicans/Conservatives, is OVER REACH. It is in their political ideology.
When your political worldview consists of a hierarchy, and has changed little since it was used to defend and bemoan the fall of Monarchy and Aristocracy, you are going to ALWAYS be on the path toward authoritarianism of one kind or another. Conservatives in general and Republicans in the US, CANNOT HELP IT. They believe they are ordained by god, or whatever they really believe in, to RULE. Not govern, but RULE. Of course they are going to try to control the stinking, ignorant masses. They are better than the rest of us. They will have order!! Or, there will be revolutions, etc... etc... and they will have to rebuild from the ashes (usually what happens).
Conservatives/Republicans can never leave well enough alone. While we work toward more equity, more liberty, and a greater sense of sharing and interdependence, they will always be working to implement their hierarchy and take things back to a time when there was absolute rule by those who are ordained to rule.

(11,759 posts)I'm requoting your post because it says in a few sentences what the GOP strategy has been. I think "Over Reach," though, is a little too gentle a term. I think the strategy of Repughs, especially Ex-President Dumpf, is extreme exaggeration." No extreme is too little for these blowhards.
Getting back to my hippier days, we always seemed to be gentle. You know, "love each other," type stuff. I think that day has mostly passed thanks to Repugh idiocy. We need to adopt their tactic of bumper stick phrases, come up with blunt "keep it simple, stupid" phrases and use them for us like they do for them. We have the best minds on our side. We can do it.
(Sorry for rant.)

(89,294 posts)But maybe it's a good thing - because it fires up the "good guys." Too bad that's what it takes, though. When women are literally stripped of their freedom over their own bodies! I never thought I'd live to see the day! But it should remind us of the way Republicans see women: as mere tools to reproduce and house the seed of men.
I will NEVER forget the male voice calling in to some talk radio show, years ago - lamenting that "this country started going downhill when women got the right to vote."

(7,583 posts)Look at what the power of the female judges are accomplishing, vs the male judges! I'm sorry, but I'm much more impressed with the women. They're measured, calm, professional, and take no prisoners; regardless of the cases they decide. They dish out the riot act (ala Alex Jones) just as calm as they do the teaching of children. But make no mistake; they take no prisoners when it comes to making the convicted pay the costs. (of course, we're still waiting on Jones.)
But look at Wallis, James, and others who go after their subjects and targets unafraid and determined. They pull no punches; they're true to the oaths they take to work for the people. You know these women have been hit with death threats against themselves and their families. But they've not backed down. They continue to work for the people. Compare that to what we see so far in the DOJ and how we're all wondering if the DOJ is interspersed with Trumpists killing texts and erasing other conspiracy trails.
I just listed to the judge in the Alex Jones trial, so I guess that probably colors my opinion right now. In fact, I just told my hubby AFAIC, just evict most of the men in power positions and replace them with Democratic women. The country will at least be 95% better off, if not 100%. And we'll get most, if not all, scandals organized and cleaned up in no time. We're so used to cleaning up other people's messes!

(21,832 posts)I can't believe they're dumb enough to think this would blow over or be overshadowed by "teh economy!!111!!!!!" (sic on purpose). then again I give them too much credit. Even Donnie the Dumb Ass, mango king extraordinaire thought Dobbs was a dumb idea.
Massive turnout for a midterm primary. Just massive.

(6,985 posts)outlawing abortion will be on our ballot here in Michigan. So will a voting rights proposal that would guarantee at least nine days of early voting, expand the use of ballot drop boxes and ensure that people who forget to bring their ID to the polls can vote. Thousands of signatures were submitted meaning that these proposals will be on November's ballot.

(23,826 posts)Love what I am seeing so far, but every voter in the country needs to be clear that abortion is on the ballot and on it in every single race up and down the ticket.
If you vote for the GOP they will take away basic fundamental rights for women.

(7,992 posts)That after a year of MSM reporting that "DEMS are going to get CLOBBERED in the midterms" that the LowIQAnon/Trump Party will just scream FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD after races they were counting on turn against them.
They were probably going to do that anyway, but now they'll point to every talking head who's been predicting both chambers flipping red for the last year.
