General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIts time all high ranking generals need to turn over everything from Jan to the DOJ,
ASAP. Anyone refusing or has missing texts, documents, or information, and all their phones, should be relieved from their position until completely investigated and cleared. This needs to happen now for national security reasons. Also Jan 6 committee needs to issue them all subpoena's to testify under oath.

(22,110 posts)crazy order to destroy the evidence of these messages. Why didn't anyone do anything? Not one word from anyone until the J6 comm. asked for text messages and such then all of this came out. This is scary that so many and not one came forward to say anything, not one (at least that we know of so far).

(22,110 posts)people? Where are those that knew that destroying these records was a crime (a felony)? A five-year sentence.

(46,899 posts)And we know the spouse of a SC justice was involved.
So your question is a good one.

(46,899 posts)The R members of congress did not look surprised on 1/6.
Many of them had big grins on their faces.
And we know that quite a few were involved in one way or the other.
The R MOC adamant refusal to wear masks when they were taken to secure but cramped locations on 1/6 was the tip off to me. That was the pre-agreed sign to the insurrectionists not to harm them.
Rep Eric Swalwell reported something interesting right after 1/6. He was helping an older female Dem MOC who was battling cancer to the secure location. It was tight quarters and he asked a friend of his, an GOP MOC, to put a mask on. This was a personal friend of Swalwells and he asked him directly. This friend was known to be reasonable. To Swalwell's surprise, the friend adamantly and grimly refused to wear a mask.
I think Swalwell knew something was up at that point.

The insurrectionists knowing all the secret spots in the Capitol building.
All of the GOP MOC adamantly refusing to wear masks and smiling and laughing.

(20,998 posts)...that played any part in January 6 or has any evidence needs to come forward.
That said: This was a deliberate attempt to overthrow the government of the United States of America. ANYONE that violated their oaths to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic" should be vigorously prosecuted and if found guilty, sentenced to the full letter of the law. There must be no ambiguities of the consequences for such nefarious acts.
If it looks like a conspiracy and acts like a conspiracy, it is most likely a conspiracy.
A conspiracy to commit sedition and seditious acts.
A conspiracy to overturn the lawful results of a federal election.
A conspiracy to retain power and position for Donald J. Trump* by any and all means necessary.
Conspiracy. We should get familiar with the word. I suspect we'll be hearing a lot of it in the future.

(4,204 posts)if someone in the plot got cold feet when they saw/heard about one insurrectionist being shot and killed. They may have pulled the plug on their individual next steps. People need to remember that when she was shot the insurrectionists were only a few feet away from getting at members of Congress. When these GQP types and their apologists cry tears over it we need to confront them with the fact that if this had been women fighting for reproductive care, people of color fighting for rights and against police abuse either group would have been under gunfire long before any MAGATS were.
