President Joe Biden's approval rate bounced back on Friday, with 44 percent of U.S. citizens being satisfied with the way the president he's handling his job, according to a new poll.
The numbers are still much below the public support Biden received at the beginning of his presidency, but they're a significant improvement from his personal low of 36 percent reported by Reuters in May.
Back in January 2021, the president was still receiving a majority approval rating, with 57 percent of U.S. citizens expressing satisfaction with the work he was doing. His approval rate dropped under 50 percent as COVID-19 cases soared across the country last summer, and was then significantly tanked by the hasty withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in August 2021.
A combination of the lingering impact of the pandemic on supply chains, the war in Ukraine shooting up energy and fuel prices and soaring inflation has contributed to the public's unhappiness with Biden's handling of his job. Since May, it has hovered at levels around 36 percent.

(12,642 posts)Biden's numbers tumbled with the Afghan withdrawal and slid with every bad headline.
Now, however?
Biden's accomplishments have been nothing short of extraordinary, the Kansas vote created a narrative thread to die for, the J6 Committee has uncovered more than anyone anticipated and the sluggish polls are finally reacting.
Couldn't happen at a better time as we barrel towards an election of our lifetime.
The Universe has decided to give us a break.

(12,642 posts)The Beltway press can stick it. At some point, they'll need to accept the reality--POTUS and the Democratic Party is swinging out of the rough and back on the fairway.
I like our odds.

(91,378 posts)This will be the third time Ive written an ask about thanking President Biden for what hes done for America. Had two, for my Indivisible groups weekly Call to Action emails, this past spring. Each time, theyre longer.
This ones riffing off the latest drop in the unemployment rate, from 3.6% in June to 3.5% in July, with an additional 500,000-PLUS new jobs created.
The ask is to our Senators and Congressmembers to stand with Biden not only now but in September when theyre all back at work.
