(19,208 posts)Had she reached her intended destination, she would have arrived 30 seconds sooner. And for that 30 seconds saved she puts everyone's lives at risk.

(102,667 posts)would likely be the explanation.
Very sad but the potential tragedy to others at least was averted this time.

I hadn't heard about it, and wondered why a ringcam video would be posted.
Now I know.

(16,871 posts)I wasn't sure I heard what I heard, but now that you mention it, I think I heard the impact. It's a wonder she survived. Right now she probably wishes that she didn't. All those burns have got to be painful. Even though the accident is likely her fault, I feel for her. I don't think her mental instability is her fault.

(3,661 posts)because nerves can be burned away. But if the burns are deep enough to cause that infection is inevitable. It's a very bad situation.

(54,150 posts)I saw your comment before I saw the video. And that's definitely what that sound was. Fortunately a neighbor I saw the crash and got the homeowner and her pets out before the fire spread around the house.
That same rescuer neighbor was apparently not able to get her out of the car and had to wait for the fire department to come pull the car out of the house put all the fires out

(18,658 posts)In two days, two middle aged women cause fiery crashes by driving at mad speeds.
It's rare that middle aged women speed like that.
It's rare that anyone speeds that fast in traffic and on neighborhood streets.
It's fairly rare that a crash is violent enough to cause a fire.
And all these things happened, two days in a row, in Los Angeles.

(54,150 posts)When you read her Wikipedia page, you get a little more context to this accident.
Her mental illness and substance abuse issues would come out of a deeply religious and apparently homophobic family. Her father died of aids, what your mother describes as "died of homosexuality." Anne accuses her father sexually abusing her as a child, causing her to get an STD, however mother says that never happened and that she got the STD from a diaper rash. That mother now works as a counselor trying to "help" men give up homosexuality. So there's that
One of Anne's brothers died in a car crash as a teenager, which Anne claims was an act of suicide. The other members of the family deny that because his youth pastor assured them that he was so committed to Jesus Christ. So there's a lot of family trauma and abuse to unpack there. Add that to any substance abuse that might be going on (there's a photograph from earlier in Heche's drive yesterday that appears to show a red capped bottle of alcohol in her car), along with an actor who isn't getting much work anymore, and you have someone who might be very prone to accidents.

(54,150 posts)Whether or not her father is guilty of the abuse that she accuses him of, and really we can't ever really know, it's pretty clear that there's other abuses going on there.
She has two children from to past relationships. I truly hope those kids are in their fathers' care, not hers full time, until she can get some permanent help

(46,831 posts)It happened to me on a Toyota Celica. Gas pedal just floored one its own. I was in stopped traffic and I had to put two feet on the brakes and put all my weight down just to pull the car out of traffic and shut the engine off.
