What's next for Shelby County Republicans after Election Day losses leave them without a seat in cou

Republican DA Amy Weirich's loss means Shelby County GOP shut out in such offices for first time since races became partisan in early 1990's.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby County Republicans did some soul-searching Friday.

"I know a lot of folks left it all on the field, campaigned hard and just the voters made a different decision," Former Shelby County GOP Chairman Chris Tutor said.

For the first time since Shelby County elections became partisan three decades ago, the GOP won't hold any local countywide offices after its remaining officeholder - Amy Weirich - lost the district attorney's race Thursday.

Pay attention to the Local and State races, as well as the Federal ones. It is at the local and state level where Rights and freedoms will be lost.

they do not trust the system enough to vote, generally speaking.

It is incredible to see this voting block step up & participate!

Voter participation in America is far too low for all communities. Not only is there a trust issue in some communities, I don’t think people understand how they can affect change on the local level. Beto O’Rourke recently said, Texas is not a red state or a purple state. It’s a non voting state.
Arredondo was elected to city council with very votes.
We need to do a better job of getting more voters involved. Im glad to see the tide is turning. We have to do it year round.

This is a good thing. I'd suggest the republicans think about this for a few years, to try to understand the implications.

The longer they sit quietly and pretend to think, the better!

Hot day here in the northeast! Muggy as can be. I am spending time quietly pulling weeds in the garden, as Beatles CDs play, thinking about how to kick the stuffing out of republicans come November!

#1 violent crime city in the US.

I'm old, too. Rarely leave the house, except to get food.

Roads here are literally like off roading. Many car parts broken on roads.

We didn't go out to the venues but they brought music in for us. Fabulous! But then I'm partial to R&B. Got to hear Patty Smyth too.

But the highlight for me was a quick trip to the Lorraine Motel Museum. I plan to go back and take my time next time. (I had a plane to catch or I'd have done it justice then.)

A lot of poverty in Memphis, but a rich history.

But I bet nobody on that side will learn any relevant or realistic lessons from this.

Because nobody want to admit they were wrong, much less that they’ve been royally HAD.
