...Is there any way to measure if there is a drop in air pollution or CO2 levels, etc?
In my opinion, any fight to save our environment and to correct the dangerous direction of climate change, must begin with controlling the pollution created by these stream polluters in the sky. Private jets should be outlawed. Otherwise, the fight to save our environment is just a charade, in my opinion.
It would be interesting to see a comparative study from the statistics when a large number of flights are canceled.

(16,339 posts)However, some buy carbon offsets to help reduce the carbon in the air. Plus if you stop flying, car use would expand and we are nowhere near ready for all electric cars.

(15,815 posts)But you'd have to make sure there isn't additional traffic increases from ICE vehicles. This was an interesting study, post 9/11. If you can't reduce trips that made up for the air traffic, then you're not doing anyone any favors.
As someone noted above, the number of EVs and the associated infrastructure isn't there yet.
