(29,417 posts)Two of my aunts, one the mother of the bride, the other not the Mama, both came along (besides me, another cousin was a bridesmaid).
We were at Penney's and fortunately the bridal section was not too far from the TV department (I hesitate to call it "electronics" in 1974).
Mother of the Bride had to keep coming back to the TVs to drag Aunt Not the Mama & me back to bridal. At one point Aunt Not the Mama said quite loudly, "This is the happiest day of my life and I'm not going to miss it!"
In the end we did not miss the speech and we found the dresses.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
