He's one of the specific guys mentioned by the Jan 6th Committee that requested a pardon. Whenever there's a list that includes Gaetz, Boebert, MTG, et al - be it for voting against a certain bill, spewing conspiracy theories, whatever - he's usually there too.

Maybe the DOJ is deciding to fill the space until the next J6 committee hearings in September.

Keep in mind, nobody has read the warrant and nobody knows what it entails. It likely involves far more than boxes of classified documents, which they knew about for months. This search warrant was issued for new information.
